Before watching: :suicide: After watching: :godzing:
It actually looks really cute and charming
This actually looks good How will they fuck it up
When it leaked I feared the worst but now I realize that this is the best XCOM 3 we ever coulda got
Who'd ever have expected a XCOM made by Ubisoft featuring Raving Rabbids and Super Mario?
Is this the new Xcom? Fucking ninjas man.
mario has a gun, it's like a flash-game's dream come true

Sorry guys, think this is my fault. I used a monkey's paw to wish for a Mario SRPG with Kirkhope on music.
I'm so hyped for this game

I did not expect this game to look this good. and holy shit that jam
I know this is just nitpicking, but I really don't like how Mario only uses "stock" noises (hahaah) in the trailer, and how the rabbit is clipping so damn much with the ground [T]https://gyazo.com/2b6ac71ea5923bcd0d989899f155c47f.jpg[/T] It just seems lazy.
I didn't expect it to be XCOM: Mario and those Minions dressed as Rabbits edition.
You know what could have made it better? And I dont mean taking out the rabbids but the gameplay trailer has these different characters with their own abilities and it would have made it so much better if they had Rayman and Globox in it. Maybe for the sequel.
I can't wait for my rag tag guerilla rabbits to get massacred by a mind controlled luigi. I want them to go full Xcom.
This could've been way worse. At least this MCom thing looks pretty damn interesting.
im still in shock that ubisoft is making a mario and rabbids crossover that plays like x-com and actually looks somewhat decent
im still in shock that ubisoft is making a mario and rabbids crossover that plays like x-com and actually looks somewhat decent
It sounds like the dumbest pitch ever and it is, but damn if it doesn't look enjoyable Next up, a barby tactical shooter
im still in shock that ubisoft is making a mario and rabbids crossover that plays like x-com and actually looks somewhat decent
2017 really is the weirdest year imaginable
Jesus christ it also releases on the same day as the XCOM 2 expansion what the fuck This shouldn't be real
why doesn't automerge work :mystery:
So discussing it with friends, I made what I feel is an interesting point: Out of all the Nintendo franchises, and all the Ubisoft franchises, why were these chosen to make an XCOM clone? I get that Mario + Rabbids is probably the least wrong crossover to do, in a Nintendo/Ubisoft collab. They're both kind of goofy, kid-friendly variety games, heavy on platformer. But nothing about either of them makes any sense as a turn-based squad-level TRPG. Neither Mario nor Rabbids really "do" guns. Metroid is kind of the obvious franchise to go to for this sort of thing. I'm not sure what you could cross it over with - all Ubisoft's shooter-y games are Tom Clancy branded, which kind of doesn't lend itself to a crossover. But why insist on it being a crossover? Clearly this was made primarily for business reasons, either Nintendo paying fat stacks of cash to pad out its game library or Ubisoft realizing they could jump in on the next Wii. But that doesn't mandate a crossover - Nintendo's lended out franchises before, the Capcom Zelda games and the Team Ninja Metroid and the Square Mario RPG. Or there's other franchises to work with. Zelda + Assassin's Creed could work - they both involve a lot of exploring, and the Zelda universe does have a tribe of hyper-trained stealth warriors. Or a Zelda + Prince of Persia. Fire Emblem vs. Might and Magic. Driver: F-Zero. They had options, is what I'm saying. Am I missing something? What about Mario or Rabbids lends itself to this sort of game?
Metroid is kind of the obvious franchise to go to for this sort of thing.
After federation force anything that doesn't resemble one of the former 2d or 3d metroid games would be ripped apart, no matter how good it looked.
peach is a cold one, blasting fools left and right
By the reactions in this thread, it looks like phase one is going well and phase two will go ahead as planned.
After federation force anything that doesn't resemble one of the former 2d or 3d metroid games would be ripped apart, no matter how good it looked.
I thought the negative reaction to Federation Force stemmed from a) it was a Nintendo-developed game so it meant Nintendo had put resources towards it instead of a "proper" Metroid game b) it was kind of shit
They could have used StarFox instead; they already use laser guns in that franchise, and an XCOM-esque spinoff wouldn't feel too out of place.
