Does anyone here know of good Ambient music? - General

Well my friend repeatedly insists on sending me random pieces of Ambient music, and some are okay, but others are just pretty bad. But I think ambient sounds good mostly. Does anyone know of a good ambient band? I'd greatly 'preciate it. Thanks.

[B]Biosphere[/B] [B]Fennesz[/B] -Mixture of ambient and trip-hop/IDM [B]Boards of Canada[/B] -Geogaddi or Music Has the Right to Children-Mixture of ambient and IDM/synth-pop [B]Phill Niblock[/B]-one of the founding fathers of drone music. -Touch-works for the Hurdy-Gurdy-amazing drone chillout music. Use of vocals and hurdy gurdy are incredible, definitely give this a listen if you like drone. [B]Lustmord[/B] -Heresy-one of the darkest drone ambient albums to date [B]Stars of the Lid[/B] -Avec Laudanum-Beautiful and slow/abstract ambient drone There are many more, you just have to look for them. Find something you like on iTunes, and look for the suggestions or "people who liked this also like:" box. You'll find a shitload. This is my favorite type of music, but good ambient is hard to find. I've been looking for years and only a few things have stricken my fancy, but they constantly remain favorites!

Check out Tracks by The Opus if you want a real experience in sound. Mainly First encounter album. I recommend the last 2 if you're looking for ambient music that DOESN'T have a rhythm to it(Or beat?) not sure what word to use.

I agree with a lot of the listed artists such as Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Ulrich Schnauss, Global Communication, [b]The Orb[/b], Stars of the Lid, and Aphex Twin. My personal suggestion for ambient would have to be Porcupine Tree. It's what I listen to when I need ambient.
