Apparently the doctor was tired after a 36-hour shift and the patient insulted him.
welp he lost his job and maybe going to jail as well
You forgot to mention the guy died
Did him hitting him contribute to his death in any way? It doesn't say in the video description.
Oh god that gave me chest pain from just watching.
Did him hitting him contribute to his death in any way? The patient is strapped to a hospital bed, unable to shut down or at least dodge the beating physician. Despite this, the doctor says that blows inflicted upon them in the chest with a man recently underwent surgery, had no effect on the work of his heart. The death of the patient, according to Andrew Votyakova, does not come from that.
The rising heart rate probably didn't do him any favours? The doctor deliberately hit him right where his heart is, this should be attempted murder.
ninjad, snip.
Yeah, as delicate as some grade 7s would like to think the heart is, a blow like that wouldn't do much unless he punched the dude literally in the heart.

Riiight.
I thought this was going to be a video of Surgeon Simulator 2013
Why is he strapped to the bed? Don't they only do that for criminals or other dangerous people?
Doctors usually become slightly agitated when overworked Just saying that since they have the most stressful jobs on the planet and after 36 hrs I doubt he could make proper decisions.
Anyvay, zat's how I lost my medical license
The rising heart rate probably didn't do him any favours? The doctor deliberately hit him right where his heart is, this should be attempted murder.
No that is murder. Attempted would mean that he failed. Could also be man slaughter if it was accidental.
No that is murder. Attempted would mean that he failed. Could also be man slaughter if it was accidental.
it's hardly manslaughter if the death wasn't even caused by the punch
That's assault and that's already far enough to fuck up that idiot's life for good.
It may not have killed him, but it certainly didn't do him any good either.
it's hardly manslaughter if the death wasn't even caused by the punch
If it was then it is. Either way, it's really shitty of him to punch the guy and then the guy dies later having been treated that way...
The hospital should be to blame, you can't have someone work 36 hours and expect them to be in a stable state of mind.
The hospital should be to blame, you can't have someone work 36 hours and expect them to be in a stable state of mind.
Being tired is no excuse to be a violent asshole. It's extremely unprofessional, not to mention criminal.
Being tired is no excuse to be a violent asshole. It's extremely unprofessional, not to mention criminal.
Sleep deprivation can alter your state of mind significantly though, sometimes to near psychosis like symptoms.
What he did is nowhere as terrifying as what this doctor did.
Being tired is no excuse to be a violent asshole. It's extremely unprofessional, not to mention criminal.
but it's totally alright for the patient to be a prick to the guy practically saving (not really in this case) his life?
Doctors are generally overworked. 70-80hr weeks are not uncommon, and stress is huge. A lot of hospitals put massive pressure on surgery and anesthesiology groups (think of them as groups of workers they hire to do the actual handiwork) to do more with less hours. source: Dad's an anesthesiologist. No, he has not punched a patient yet. Although patients have attempted to hit him and other surgery staff :v:
It should be illegal to charge someone who has had their mental state altered by anything other than, say, illegal drugs or alcohol or something. The doctor was probably overworked to the point of psychosis or instability, and if so he should get off with a slap on the wrist (after recovering and being proved to be stable by a phychologist) and maybe the loss of his job.
Why exactly would you insult the people that most likely had just saved you (aside from the guy dying later obviously).
but it's totally alright for the patient to be a prick to the guy practically saving (not really in this case) his life?
Are you seriously equating insults to physical attacks?
What the Doctor did was in no way right, but I have trouble saying that he's the bad guy considering that he probably was under a lot of stress, was sleep deprived and in a really, really shitty mood. Nobody is perfect.
