Looks very mediocre
thank god they FINALLY tapped into the raw potential that was hidden within those stupid fucking pencil-toppers
I thought this would be a sequel to the critically acclaimed 90's film, Troll 2.
Looks like every other feel good animated kids movie ever lord.

One thing I would say leads to this is using existing songs or covers of them. Right now, I can't think of any animated Disney movie or trailer that uses existing songs, so that might be an important step in producing something that is not forgettable trash.

Really? I feel like I've heard the track used in this trailer 50 times already.
I wonder how they come up with the arbitrary names for these mythical monsters like burgan
I find my happy place through drugs?
I was honestly expecting this to be a cringeworthy movie about people who post mean things on internet forums
I was let down
I hope we'll get a cameo from this guy

I think the movie will be a fun mindless kid movie to see.

Can't Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake was made for this movie and he released it on May 5th.
It's a really good summer hit, and it's Justin Timberlake. it's going to be played A LOT throughout summer.
It's a really catchy and fun song imo.
meh..little too kiddie for me
Also They make Zooey the voice of the fugly fat one?..heh
i thought we already have an animated trolls film made by dreamworks

For a minute I thought it meant actual trolls or something.
Not this...
Well for every gold nugget you get a poop like this.
This trailer has TWO "shit myself" jokes. Come on guys...
How did anyone think this was a good idea? Troll dolls are a fucking joke.
I can't imagine how depressing it must be working for Dreamworks and churning out shit like this.
Is this a 'straight-to-DVD" movie? It looks like it, from the trailer...

There are already two films that have been given the distinction of Troll 3. We don't need any more.
They will never be as good as the original

The movie looks like it could have some kind of cute message to it, which is cool, but I'm not sure why they chose Trolls of all things...
Oh boy, more dated(?) slang that doesn't fit the film's atmosphere. I love it when DreamWorks does that.

How to Train Your Dragon did great with having its own musical score and not going into pop culture song and dance, and Shrek did well with using pop music and revisiting older stuff, but that was because the whole thing was pretty much a satire in and of itself and wasn't supposed to take anything seriously. I can see that going well for Trolls to a degree with the late 80's/early 90's references (the song at the beginning sounded really offkey though, but I can't remember the name of the original version), but the song toward the end was definitely run of the mill "we took a cool artist and just used a song that sounded feel-goody for the trailer", but I doubt you'd hear it outside the credits, maybe the ending camera pan-out as everybody's cheering for the protagonists after everything's resolved
In the end I totally agree that there's a stark difference that can be made when a movie (or other media) has a proper orchestral score, or just pulls pop music and dubstep out of its ass to rake in popularity sales during its few months of relevance. One of the examples I love bringing up in this is when Halo 2 tried pushing the edgy 2000's rock envelope. Surely a smart move, when some of the highest praise on the original game was that it made such a huge impact with huge orchestral scores adding a serious, grandiose tone,

Nothing like Breaking Benjamin, Incubus, and Hoobastank to set the mood!

I always find something horribly wrong with dreamworks and what their properties do as far as design choices. I want to work for a big studio like them into the future, and if presented with an offer for dreamworks, while it's probably good paying and prestigious as fuck, I'm not sure if I'd be willing to suck it up and take the job because their properties are 90% egregious trash that I'm always sour over. Hell, pixar was my inspiration when I was young but all of their movies, while always technically impressive and can do no wrong, are still very friendly feelgood movies and aren't interesting to me on a creative level these days and would be second choice to Disney Animation Studios
Can I just get an animated Dreamworks movie with like, Deep Purple on the soundtrack?
I miss 2D animated movies.

They probably went on google and crunched the numbers for the most searched fictional monster.
