this is terrible ...
Holy fuck that made me angry.
Those assholes are going to prison.
I hate that Google picks nothing up, even though this happened a year ago.
That first lady was kind of being a bitch.
How can they be allowed just to keep somebody like that?
Haha i loved the face on the black security guard when the camera man grabbed him to let them escape.
I always have a fear that something like this will happen to me.

no they're not, it's been a year
people get away with this shit more than you'd think
Any story on this?
Anyone know how this ended?
This has to be illegal right?
Apparently he was running for sheriff at this time. Even if he had wanted to take legal action against the hospital it probably wouldn't have been in his best interests for him to stir that up while he was working his campaign. He seems like a nice guy, but I think he went about doing this the wrong way. Good thing it's all on film though, especially the security guard and them dragging her away.

Huh, it was a camera inside his glasses.
Both parties would be at fault in a case like this.
That's fucked up. Though honestly, I probably would have fought harder. It's a case that can go back and forth and ultimately go on the side of the patients family. Despite having the law say they can hold her for 72 hours, they have no reason to believe she is suicidal and did not understand the simplicity of the situation that she was epileptic. Something that would be in her health records. For a hospital to hold someone prisoner based on their beliefs rather than what actually happened, and to refuse to listen to the story of those who were there, it's sick. If they can do that, then what else can they hold someone against their will for?
Actions speak louder than words, and those were not actions of a suicidal person by any means.

Even Fox News can't spin it to make him look bad. And the man's trying to legalise cannabis as well - good on him.
that was exciting it was like an escape scene and you're screaming GO GO GO at the monitor
I can somewhat understand why the Hospital wouldn't want them to leave if they thought she was going to commit suicide but if it was just epilepsy then wow. Stupid hospital.
Yeah they weren't moving that quickly down the elevator hall but I could really feel the anxiety. I feel so bad for that kid.
The hospital was in the right here. The rest is just drama produced by a fat guy.
So what the hospital can kidnap you for 72 hours if the doctor says you are suicidal? I'm guessing it's not based on any psychology test or anything like that? Seriously, what the fuck?

Yeah and if the person is suicidal and goes ahead to kill them self, who's to blame, definitely not the guardian :downs:
Hospital is in the right that they were also protecting her.
Love how the guard claims he was after his taser, anything to justify ones actions!
He should have called the police first. Taking the law into your own hands is hardly ever a good idea.
Same thing happened to me in 08, I was working on something with a knife, and my finger was cut in half.
Go to hospital to get it stitched up, BOOM INSTANT SUICIDE ATTEMPT.
I have to side with the hospital.

The 72 hour hold is to conduct psychological tests, and observe behavior. They held her because she had knife cuts on her own arm that she inflicted because she had a "seizure". Believe it or not, but A LOT of people lie about how they actually end up having self inflicted knife wounds on the arm.
If i was the physician, i would of put a 72 hour hold on her too A lot of people end up trying to kill themselves by cutting their arms/wrists, and realize that that shit is not working as fast as they thought, they go to the ER to get fixed up, and lie about how they have self inflicted knife wounds.
Patients lying in the ER is not uncommon, especially when someones suicidal. Now maybe this girls story is true, maybe she did cut herself while she had a seizure, but there is no way for the doctor to determine if she's suicidal or not without the 72 hour hold.
What's in your best interest may not be comfortable, or enjoyable.
I have to agree though, that the security guard was being a prick, and overly aggressive. Should of just had the cops come, the guy said he was happily willingly to wait and talk to the cops.

Go cut your hand while trying to fix something, then go to a shitty hospital. They'll claim you tried to kill yourself and keep you there for a few days.

Her situation=/= your situation. The fact you get offensive cause I agree with the hospitals decision in this video, and use your shitty experience in a shit ER to try to break down my opinion is retarded. I agree with you, what they did was you sounds like complete bullshit. The ER you went to sounds like a very, very shitty one. The best thing I can say for that is go to an ER that doesn't suck.
but from what I gather from the video, the doctors had some weight to their reasoning in putting the 72 hour hold. Wrist/arm knife wounds that are self-inflicted due to a "seizure". Anyone can go to the ER because they had a failed attempt, and say it was the results of a seizure.

She had a fucking seizure. All they had to do was look in her fucking medical records you imbecile.
You were grasping for more straws in this post than most Republicans.

I agree that hospitals should hold people over, if they have sound reasoning to do so, however, this hospital did not.
One of my neighbors got into a severe car accident where she had an epileptic seizure and nearly killed somebody in the accident.
My case being, if you've got epilepsy, literally anything can happen.
By the way the person who had the accident literally took a 90 degree turn in an SUV and flipped into the side of a building.
