Reminded me why I loved the old halo games.
Specifically Reach, just because I cant think of any other game besides maybe XCOM that gave me such a sense of futility and hopelessness in the face of an overwhelming enemy.
I guess babylon 5 had the battle of the line also.

Side note: This is a "What if" video, not actual halo lore.
that was pretty bad
looks like a shitty attempt at copying mass effect 3's ending battle

Yeah rewatching it now makes me see how cringy it was lol, I think I was more hyped up on my own memories of the games than the video itself...
Ah well, embarassing post.
If the covenant knew that was humanities homeworld they would've shown up with an armada bigger than they did for Reach and crush Earth twice as fast. Kinda a weird video tbh.

wasn't it explained that they thought reach was our homeworld?

If I remember correctly they thought earth was uninhabited or abandoned and wanted to search for artifacts, which is hwy the armada is so small

In one of the extra books that came with Halo 2, a conversation between two Elites post-Halo CE reveals that they still didnt know where the human homeworld was, and were baffled that after the loss of Reach they were still capable of fighting. The Covenant got to Earth through sheer luck.
Come Halo 3, and Keyes mentions that it took the arrival of Truth's fleet to overwhelm the defenders and send the remnants into hiding.

In Halo: First Strike, right after Halo CE but before Halo 2, the covenant were gearing up the biggest armada seen to attack Earth but was foiled when the command station's reactors were overloaded taking it and a good bit of the fleet with it if i recall.

Babylon 5 is pretty fuckin good at big battle of the line stuff, as long as you can suspend your disbelief at 90's CGI.
