Two of the Red Arrows have collided over Crete, forcing one pilot to eject before his aircraft crashed onto the Greek island.
It is understood the second plane landed safely along with the rest of the RAF squadron at Iraklion Airport.
The pilot who parachuted from his aircraft suffered a dislocated shoulder and was taken to hospital.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed an incident had occurred during the aerobatic team's pre-season training at the Kastelli airforce base.
"A service inquiry will be convened to identify the cause of the crash," a spokesman added.
Photos taken after the accident showed one Red Arrow's tail tip snapped off and damage to the back right of the plane.
The Red Arrows team arrived on Crete at the weekend for the first stage of Exercise Springhawk, the RAF said.
With their trademark red, white and blue vapour trails, the Red Arrows are a familiar sight at British air displays.
Not the red arrows! :(
"A service inquiry will be convened to identify the cause of the crash," a spokesman added.
It was a mid-air collision.
Hurr Hurr funny pun goes here Hurr Hurr
Red arrows are planes.
Red arrows are planes?
Yes the English equivalent to America's Blue Angels.
Red arrows are planes?
Yes, they're supposedly the most skilled pilots in Britain, they do stunt shows etc.
I'm suprised this doesn't happen more often, if you see how close they get in their shows.
Darn it, I was proud of the red arrows, not like them shitty russian pilots that crash all the time. At least no one died. I still like the red arrows :)
I've seen them a few times they're awesome but they should stay in Britain. They're OUR pilots !!!
Yes the English equivalent to America's Blue Angels.
So basically they're a knockoff.
So basically they're a knockoff.
....No, they're better.
So basically they're a knockoff.
No Red Arrows have been around since WWI (Red Barrens)
Blue Angels are a knock-off.
Such a shame. Crete is such a nice island too. now it's covered in bits of plane and broken British pride.
The pilot will be back up and flying tomorrow nothing stops us.
Yup

Haha
but seriously, if you get a chance to watch them, its worth it. I just couldn't believe what crazy shit they pulled
It was a mid-air collision.
They crashed into eachother...
....No, they're better.
haha sure and Flash Forward is better than Lost.
Also, sucks for the pilots, they were at the tip of their careers
I see them training all the time where I live. They're awesome. I used to know this guy who was an engineer for their planes and stuff.. Got loads of free red arrows stuff, t'was cool.
Also, sucks for the pilots, they were at the tip of their careers
I don't see the point of this pun.
Yes, they're supposedly the most skilled pilots in Britain, they do stunt shows etc.

The first part of your post explains the second part.
FYI the reason people watch things like the Blue Angels is a chance to see this.
Just like the people who watch death-defying magicians and Micheal Bay movies.
They crashed into eachother...
That's basically what he said.
Yes the English equivalent to America's Blue Angels.
Or Canada's Snow Birds.
The pilot will be back up and flying tomorrow nothing stops us.
They'll be back up and flying 20 minutes after the crash, the one that ejected would've obviously just popped his arm back into place and kept going whilst maintaining a stiff upper lip and possibly making a brew in his parachute.
That's basically what he said.
No he made it sound as if there was a difference...
Or Canada's Snow Birds.
Red arrows suddenly don't seem so dumb by comparison.
I've seen them a few times they're awesome but they should stay in Britain. They're OUR pilots !!!
