David Cameron says he will not rule out air strikes against Islamic State (IS), which is holding a British hostage.
Asked whether strikes could be launched without Syria's approval, he said President Assad's government was "illegitimate" given his "war crimes".
The prime minister told the BBC action must not be "Western intervention over the heads of neighbouring states".

So, the Conservative leadership has begun asking Tory MPs for their views about the possibility of military action against Islamic State.
One Conservative MP told me he had been asked two specific questions by his whip, an MP who enforces discipline in the House of Commons for the government.
The MP was asked: what did he think about military action in Iraq and what did he think about military action in Syria?
Government sources at Westminster insisted that Tory MPs were not being consulted about any specific proposals for military action. They were simply being asked for their views about a range of issues that included the situation in the Middle East but also touched on Ukraine and domestic matters.
Good. Worst thing we could do is sit back and watch the cancer spread.
I'm really not one for another war or conflict. But this definitely seems like something that needs nipped in the bud now before it becomes to powerful.

I think a massive force of pseudo-religious psychopaths with millions of dollars and high-grade military hardware trying to form a caliphate across the middle east is a bit different than a civil war in a third world country.

The closest thing to "U Wot M8?" Cameron can get.

Does it really count or affect the populace when you're sitting 35 miles off the coast, lobbing missiles inland?

It literally is a civil war in a third-world country... And they don't have advanced air defense, so unless Syria decides to play funny for one reason or another; jets are safe.
Do it, Cameron. Be useful for once in your life.
