Chinese Leader Xi Jinping to Meet with Trump in April
President Donald Trump will meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping for the first time on April 6-7 at Trump's Florida resort, China's foreign ministry announced Thursday, amid a range of pressing issues from trade, to North Korea and territorial claims in the South China Sea.
The future relationship between the world's No. 1 and No. 2 economies has been uncertain following the election of Trump, who accused China during his campaign of unfair trade practices and threatened to raise import taxes on Chinese goods and declare Beijing a currency manipulator.
It is unclear whether Trump will follow through with either threat. He is now seeking Beijing's help in pressuring North Korea over its nuclear weapons and missiles programs. China is the North's most important source of diplomatic support and economic assistance.
In February, Trump reaffirmed Washington's long-standing "One China" policy in a call with Xi, in an apparent move to ease concerns in China that he might use Taiwan as leverage in negotiations over trade, security and other sensitive issues. The policy in place since 1979 requires Washington to maintain only unofficial ties with Taiwan, which China claims as its own territory.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang told reporters that Xi would meet with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, without providing any more details.
He's gonna make the best deal, no one makes deals like him.
On a serious note, I'm curious what the outcome of this meeting will be.

They'll come to some kind of an agreement where impoverished Americans are rented out to the Chinese factories that "stole their jobs"

trump will sign a deal making it so that the USA becomes a tributary state of the middle kingdom (as it should be)
good news, tax payers get to pay for the dinner at his maralargo club, meaning it will be extremely overpriced.

Donald Trump will say something moderately nice about China at the press conference and when Xi Jinping has gone home Trump will tweet about how China is taking advantage of the US.

Which is amusing, because that's surprisingly the exact sort of thing China does :v:.

Good thing you guys don't share a border with them.
In all seriousness, though - he's a bit of a wuss so he will most likely do nothing. After all, it was no coincidence that his trademarks miraculously came through in China shortly after he became President, so perhaps this is one case where his diplomatic ignorance won't come in the way of rocking the boat for his businesses.

I can't wait for Xi to call Trump out on his anti-climate bull-shittery.
I mean I can wait because it's not going to happen, but if it does happen I will likely die of laughter.
He won't, but I'd also find it funny if then Trump starts tweeting about how climate change is a Chinese hoax again.
He'll continue not having the headpiece and make Americans look like they try to act smart and know other languages while not understanding languages other than English.

China assesses trump in person.
finds him lacking, and probably insulting.
Realises this is the perfect time to invade.
People's united states of America
People's republic of America
Chinese states of America
America's people's republic.
Chinese american states
So many good combinations.

yeah sure, under the administration with the most military bolstering in a decade is the perfect time to invade
Knowing Trump, your military will be distracted with fighting martians on the moon. China's chances are excellent.
