Everything is a Remix - Where have I seen this before....

Everything is a Remix is a 4-part series created by Kirby Furguson. Through the series Kirby explains how nothing we have is truly original and everything is copied from other things. It's sad that he brings up just an important issue about copyright and he has so little recognition that I'd like to start a discussion about it. Each part is only around 10 minutes long and even if you're not really interested in what he's talking about it's cool watching how everything blends together. I'll post both the youtube and vimeo videos, and note that part 1 isn't on youtube. The final part recently came up on the 16th, and I noticed that no one has posted about it on facepunch so here it is! [sp]I didn't put this into the videos section since it's (hopefully) discussion worthy[/sp]
Really great watch.
For the great Visual and audio presentation this deserves alot more attention.
My favorite part about this series is how he highlights the problems with the copyright laws. Originally it was meant to preserve the inventors ability to make money off their product, but today it's more to ensure that no body else can. at least in the US any product made today has copyright through the inventors life time plus 70 years; 1787 when the first American copyright law was made it was only 14 years.
I enjoyed it. Worth it.
this guy's conclusions are extremely idealistic
sounds like a paulbot tbh
Wow, that was probably one of the best documentaries I've watched. Along with College Conspiracy.
Expected something much more dry and lecture-ish. Pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure I totally agree though. I think it's sometimes too easy to connect things with similarities whether they actually influenced each other or not, just due the sheer amount of media we have today. I think it's more fair to say everything is repetitive than to say it's a remix. A remix is something done intentionally, however a person could easily produce their own original content, not realizing it matches closely to someone else's content.

Also, very familiar voice. Does he do any other voicing?
Im not sure about voice acting, but he's a cinematographer. At the end of the 3rd part he talks about muliple discovery or something else; basically that more often then not more than one person are inventing the same product around the same time. Sure, I agree that assuming causality is pretty bad to do, but everyone gets influenced by the things around them; it's one of the main ideas behind sociology.
