Things get pretty scary at the 5:00 mark.
Assholes. No need for that shit.
All this over a license plate? Really? Whilst it totally seems like a Top Gear thing to do, I still don't fully believe they did it on purpose. I can't recall where the article was, but I recall reading a while ago about how difficult it would've been for the production team to intentionally track down a Porsche with an offensive license plate then convince the owner to sell it (if they didn't happen to be conveniently selling it already) just for a quick gag.
That is fucking terrifying. The ending bit made me lose my shit tho!
Can someone give me a backstory on why they were mad and why there were tons of mobs? I know the license plate is related.

It doesn't even qualify as grasping at straws.
Can someone give me a backstory on why they were mad and why there were tons of mobs? Holy shit they look so old.
Fucking barbaric.
Holy shit they look so old.
Its the unshaven look. It adds
The thing is those thugs don't care about how they're making the rest of Argentina look. They had no troubles until some guy made some wild assumption they did it on purpose, do they really think they would do that consider how sensitive the Falklands are to them and how much respect Top Gear actually do have for wars and such? Fuck these argie cunts.
Can someone give me a backstory on why they were mad and why there were tons of mobs? I know the license plate is related.
The plate is H982 FKL, which was interpreted by a journalist as "Falklands 1982"
Wasn't there a statement telling the Top Gear team to not do anything offensive before this happened? Maybe they should think about this stuff before going anywhere because some people are very sensitive and blow things out of proportion.
And they didn't do anything offensive.
Thanks for posting, anyone know when this will air stateside? I've been waiting a while to see this episode.
Not intentionally, but clearly the mob saw it differently. Top Gear should consider if something they do could potentially offend these types of people and take steps to avoid those things, after all the cast and crews safety is at risk. Even if they made an intentional joke through something such a license plate, it's not worth risking their lives over it, there are a lot of idiots out there that would easily get offended by the dumbest things. Guess now they know they need to watch what their plates could say to some idiots so this type of situation doesn't happen again. Though who could've honestly predicted that such a violent response would have been sparked by a license plate of all things.
so they should just pussyfoot around because some people had their feelings hurt because they were too stupid to realize the "evidence" behind their reasoning was completely dogshit?

Argentina just can't handle the banter.
nobody expected a large mob of bogans to throw rocks in a attempt to injure another human life over accidentally getting a plate number that through grasping at straws referenced the invasion that their own country started and lost
I would be so incredibly ashamed of my country and my veterans and in my law enforcement if i was Argentinian. This is barbaric and pathetic.
You're acting as if I'm taking the side of the mob
Then you have done a terrible job, because that's exactly what it sounds like.
I was expecting Attack on Titan with Top Gear.
I was expecting Attack on Titan with Top Gear.
Hamster titan. Tall as a regular person
I was expecting Attack on Titan with Top Gear.
Stig taking down a giant naked James May
It makes me chuckle how butthurt those people are
I would be so incredibly ashamed of my country and my veterans and in my law enforcement if i was Argentinian.
Way to completely miss the point. Part of their job, and the job of their boss, the insurance they acquire when going, and even the security advisors job is to make sure the cast and crew are safe while abroad and that any safety concerns are met. Knowing their history to piss people off, intentionally or otherwise. The smart choice would be to do a little bit of research into the place they are visiting for any issues they should try to avoid. It has nothing to do with "pussyfooting" it's about risk management. You're acting as if I'm taking the side of the mob just because I'm not kissing Top Gears feet. The mob is fucking stupid and completely in the wrong, I don't believe the plate was intentional, but there are definitely things Top Gear can do to try and avoid another incident this violent. The last thing anyone wants to see if part of the cast or crew getting injured.
Your username is offensive, 83? 1983? December 17th 1983 an IRA bomb killed 6 and injured 90.
eh i don't see why you would be ashamed of your entire country because of a few isolated groups of people and politicians who can't let go of an old grudge
Because everyone else is just letting it happen. And it's clearly not an isolated group, hundreds of people over several towns showed up to attack them.
Because everyone else is just letting it happen.
What are we supposed to do when the people who can't forget the war are the ones in control? And when they have influence on the media, which in turn influences millions of uneducated people to care about something they should just let go? Am I supposed to fly to Patagonia and tell those mobs of people "No, don't do that"?
And it's clearly not an isolated group, hundreds of people over several towns showed up to attack them.
And Argentina has a population of 41 million I'm honestly not sure why I'm getting dumbed? I'm only saying it makes no fucking sense to say you should be ashamed of something you have absolutely no control over

I feel like it's a pretty big coincidence that they'd accidentally find one that had the date of the conflict as well as the Falklands 3-letter international abbreviation on it. But really it's such a silly thing to get up in arms about - if you can't dickwave and joke about shooting at Jerries or throwing stones at Brits or having a war over a scrap of rock with bird shit on it what is the point of even going to war?
