well the recent Mesh Update (3D Models Imported into SL to severly reduce Prim count on objects) help bring people back in.
i still play it every now and then because its fun to see worlds built by people (like Insilico, Pixels, or the Kawaii Anime City(bad name but it actually has a awesome look))
there's also people who make movies in it and stuff because it's easy to set up a scene in SL

Minus the weird shit, the place is still pretty interesting. The areas are all user-created content and it's kind of neat to just drive around the game and run across different areas without explicitly searching for them in the search box. It's like Vinny's [URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqel0k0NzNU"]Worlds Exploration[/URL], but not at that level of creepy (most of the time).
