So, when the fuck did Garrett get super-powers? The whole game seems so stupidly simplified..

Man that shadow invisibility looks like all kinds of fun! I mean even when he was out in the open the guards still ignored him, that was brilliant! /s
I like how they expanded some abilities for Garrett after all he has mechanical eye so no wonder you can slow down time to get precise shots, dash ability is also nice. [editline]18th June 2013[/editline] Also I don't see any dumbing down, posts above are just plainly retarded so ignore them, it looks really good so far, mechanics are improved, also rope arrow is back.
I don't see ~slowing time~ to be a bad thing at all. I see it as allowing the player to use Garrets abilities and skillful reflexes more precisely. I pretend like the world doesn't go in slow motion at all. More of a handicap for the normal player.

it looks pretty good, and pretty difficult. I hate how your hands are in front of your face though. Who does that?
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1279356 Basically: bad AI, bad combat, forced escape scene with QTE Let's hope it's sorted out by release (2014, didn't say when)

As long as there's a save before the QTE starts (so if you fail, you can simply try again), than I don't see the problem. The way it's described sounds almost exactly like how it was done in Tomb Raider, which wasn't bad at all. You'd have to not be paying attention to fail them.

It's just a cutscene only I have to hit a button. I'm not playing. I'm not doing anything.
Eh....
My reaction too. It looks like it would be fun to play, but having to restrain myself from using features in a game to enjoy it doesn't sound too appealing. That didn't work out too well personally with fast travel in TES. :v: I'm sure many of you have heard of it before, but The Dark Mod total conversion for Doom 3 is a damn fine Thief game (it's going standalone too, apparently). Here's the link for those who are interested. Sure, the graphics are dated, and the dozens of fan made missions play like episodes rather than a full game, but the mechanics are solid.
The only thing that bothers me is the FOV, that's all, but it's consoles so it's understandable, different field of view because you sit far away from the TV screen, but for PC it needs to have a slider.
This is exactly what people said when they were demoing Hitman Absolution though
Very same thing I was thinking [editline]17th June 2013[/editline] Theif Conviction
This is exactly what people said when they were demoing Hitman Absolution though
What's your point? What happened to a completely different franchise has no bearing on what happens to this one. That's like saying that GTA V will be bad because SR3 was so silly. It just doesn't make any sense. Especially when the two franchises are being handled by entirely different developers, as is the case here.

Demos can be very telling [editline]18th June 2013[/editline] Prepare yourself Thief fans, I cry for you
a recent interview said that it would be around 90 for PC.
That's good news indeed. Especially since he shot down a giant crate and nobody gave a shit, but a dog barking = EVERYONE LOOK AROUND GUISE TOTALLY AN ASSASSIN HERE TO FUCK THE BARRON UP

[editline]18th June 2013[/editline] Also something I had on my mind but forgot to write. I don't think they want to screw up Thief seeing how fans of the franchise would probably tear them apart, so there is good reason it won't be bad.
This game looks really good. You can touch people's asses without them knowing.

You needed to use your ears and eyes to actually discover stuff. Also, how does him having an "eye" make him move faster? Just stupid, like your posts.

I wrote it's good to see dash abilities and new moves he has that help to move unnoticed, it's not special abilities so stop overreacting, it's made as a part of the game and it fits, also have some courtesy, I have played all of previous Thief games and I want something different yet new.
Oh sweet, new Dishonored DLC
I feel like the slowing down thing is ok. the argument they used in hitman absolution is to mimic the skills and years of training he has, which is kinda impossible to do without such mechanics.
Way to ruin one of my all-time favourite franchises...

You mean like a new stripped down dishonored? That's what it looks like to me. They didn't even say taffer. Guess I should expect that, since all todays gamers seem to be stupid idiots that can't even play Metroid without getting stuck. Call me a purist, but I like games that give me a challenge and gives me rewards for thinking new instead of just showing me everything at the push of a button.
So, when the fuck did Garrett get super-powers? The whole game seems so stupidly simplified..
All powers are optional and can be turned off. They confirmed it at E3.
They wont ever top Thief 2 level design or Thief 2 in general. Knowing this I can go into this new Thief knowing its just gonna be fun, sadly it wont have that awesome thief writing and funny dialog and banter, it wont have garrets awesome original voice, it wont have the pagans, hammerites, magic, monsters, or any of the cool and creepy shit. It wont be as good but if it still has great level design then I think it can be a pretty damn good game, but its not gonna be Thief 2 tier.
