Roughly 400 employees will go on strike next Tuesday and three additional half-day strikes are planned throughout April unless an agreement is made. If there is still no collective bargaining agreement at the end of the month then a general strike will begin.
Mornings are peak hours for Keflavík airport with 20 departures and arrivals with Icelandair and WOW Air scheduled next Tuesday morning, the day of the first strike.
The majority of those going on strike work in airport security such as rescue workers, firemen and women, flight analysts and security officers.
Might just be a few days, but this is serious. Flight in Iceland will be paralyzed if this continues. Which sucks because my girlfriend is coming to visit :(
Seems like all of Iceland is going on strike now. Gymnasium (I guess high school is the US equivalent) teachers have been on strike for nigh on 3 weeks now, university teachers will go on strike in May, elementary school teachers are most likely going on strike in the fall, and nurses have declared their salaries and union struggle with the state.
Not a very good time to be Icelandic...nor to be traveling to it...
Damn, Dogged a bullet right there, almost went on holiday there at that time
What are their demands?
Higher and fairer pay for hard work.
But where will I get my prawn wings for only £1.25!?
I would like to visit Iceland. It seems so... remote.

Is there an austerity thing going on or something?
Why does Iceland hate planes?
