Those itching to relive the mid-90s will be happy to hear that Blizzard has re-released its cult classic action-platformer Blackthorne. Even better? It's absolutely free. Having been developed before Blizzard decided to focus exclusively on the Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo franchises, Blackthorne is unlike anything else from the developer. It drops you into the boots of Kyle, a denim-clad cliché of everything teenaged boys imagined to be "cool" circa 1994, as he traverses an alien planet hoping to rescue hostages and look especially rad while blasting enemies to bits. While the story only exists to support the action, most won't care once they discover the "no look, behind the back" shotgun attack.
Source. People have been asking for something related to Lost Vikings, another dead Blizzard IP, for years, to the point where people would be even OK with a port. The fact that they are giving this away for free is pretty awesome.
"...definitely one of the best games involving a guy with a gun...the fights are really intense..." A++
Radical! Gnarly!
They should probably put this Kyle chap in Heroes of the Storm. Also on the list of MUST INCLUDE are the Lost Vikings; Erik, Baleog and Olaf, whether as one single hero or separate ones.
bhawk.exe! I remember this game, I had the demo yeaaarrrrrrs ago!
People have been asking for something related to Lost Vikings, another dead Blizzard IP, for years, to the point where people would be even OK with a port.
I remember hearing The Lost Viking was in Starcraft 2. Then it turned out to be that arcade game and I was sad.
How about re-releasing Warcraft 2 Battle.net Edition too?
You know what they need? Lost Vikings, maybe they could possibly do a Steam Edition where Atlas, P-Body and possibly Chell becomes new supporting characters in a non-canon story mode? to compliment the main 3 Vikings, one thing i wouldn't know is how to balance them all, assuming if there was only 1 complete gun and 2 of a single frequency. Portal guns would seem a bit overpowered compared to the Vikings except for possibly in Jumping ability and shielding bullets, though then it would make the Vikings usefulness a tad forced if all the walls was covered in portal-denying gel...
Acknowledging a dead IP as well as releasing it for free? Bogus!
