That’s right, Facepunch. The decade is now over, and there is so much to show for it. This decade has been the decade of advancement and human achievement. We’ve managed to make things that were originally huge to a minute size. The human race has moved on extremely over the past decade and we can now do things that we never thought possible at the start of this decade. Astonishingly, we have the same to expect from the coming decade. This thread, however, is about celebrating the decade past, so here we go, exploring some of the things I believe have moved on the most. It’s been the decade of the iPod, the MP3 player and the Portable DVD Player. All of which have become possible easily. From towers to netbooks and from stereos to iPods, the decade has really moved on with it’s technology and gadgets. Radio picture is clearer than ever, and we can now transmit high amount of detail through the air. This decade truly has been one of the most active decades for gadgetry and tech improvement. From the very fastest of download speeds in the year 2000 is lower than the minimum here in 2009. In the decade we have moved from 24 kb/s to over 1000kb/s download speeds on our internets, and with it, the ability to use YouTube. The ability of Facebook, video networking sites and easier communication for the family with wireless internet almost everywhere you go. More is bought over the internet than in traditional stores today, the internet, over the past 10 years, has become a trusted way to buy goods and communicate. The internet is one of the features that has moved human development forward. Where we had absolutely tiny televisions of 10” or similar in 2000, we now have 42” whoppers sitting in our living rooms. With 1080p recording becoming available to everyone, suddenly, HD Ready is an astonishing thing to have. With the launch of high definition video, you can finally see every detail on the face of the guy you are watching, you can see the curved scar around the nose of the villain. High definition television is revolutionary and has made the television more of a home than any other piece of electronic kit in our house. It brings together families, and takes up more of the living room than most pieces of furniture. This decade was the decade of television. This decade, cinema has made astonishing developments in CGI, adding definition and 3D effects to the silver screen and giving astonishing new experiences to the audience. Making animation seem like reality has almost been achieved towards the very end of this decade. Avatar and other CGI aided movies which would have been impossible, have been made possible, and they look real. The cinema has also seen the rise of piracy, and the battle using infra-red lights and camera finding lights to prevent pirates getting the release clean off the cinema have been taken as precautions. The cinema has advanced hugely, from low level animation, to lifelike animation and picture quality in the past decade. In the past decade we have gone from the graphics of the PlayStation 2® and we have turned it into Crysis, astonishingly, the graphics now look almost real. Scarily, games may become even more real with Nvidia and ATi adding physical presence and 3D abilities to their graphics cards. Before long, we could have a game that situates you right in the action. Providing, of course, video games haven’t been banned for causing every violent crime ever by then. The decade past has had the games from looking mediocre to looking excellent. By the end of this decade, we will have nailed gaming graphics, and we will be situated in a living, breathing, graphical world. And how can we forget. The release of Half Life, and the oncoming fortune of Garry, and then the creation of Facepunch, which has become one of the very largest forums around. The birth of Facepunch as a forum has began at the beginning of this decade, and it has occurred to the gaming modding community. Garry has made his fortune this decade. It is something to remember. Garry is now rich. Well done Garry!

Why should we care about the past and not the future?
Facepunch hasn't been around for 10 years :raise:
Facepunch hasn't been around for 10 years :raise:
My first thought. Didn't Facepunch start in 2004? It's still another 4-5 years to go before it's the end of Facepunch's first decade.
Yeah, Facepunch is nowhere near ten years old.
Also, technically the decade isn't over until the end of 2010.
decade is over in 2011
2010 members will start popping up in just a few short hours!

Someone in Europe please tell me how the future is when 2010 comes there tia.
2010 members will start popping up in just a few short hours!
Who will be first? I say popenseed [editline]06:10PM[/editline]
10'ers? Tenners? Zero Tenners?
I say oh-tenners, it just sounds right.
Facepunch hasn't been around for 10 years :raise:
Garry's Join Date is 2001
Garry's Join Date is 2001
He edited that, he didn't actually create FP in '01.
FP hasn't been around 10 years
He edited that, he didn't actually create FP in '01.
Oh Boy!!!!! (I just saw that thread)
Someone in Europe please tell me how the future is when 2010 comes there tia.
I'm gonna hazard a guess that it's going to be the same as a normal day.
Do some research before coming up with threads like this. Even HL2 wasn't release on 2001 EVEN VBulletin wasn't created on 2001
Garry's Join Date is 2001
Really shows how much you know about Facepunch then, garry can modify join dates, and noticed the date he modified his to.
