Burger King Worldwide Inc. is looking to buy Tim Hortons Inc., according to reports, a move that would create the third-largest fast food company in the world and mark the second time in as many decades that the iconic Canadian coffee chain was gobbled up by an American burger behemoth.

The tentative deal appears to be a so-called tax inversion scheme, an increasingly common legal manoeuvre that allows U.S. corporations to take on the nationality, and lower tax burden, of another country by buying a company there. The U.S. Congress has recorded 47 major American companies using “inversion” in the last decade.

Tim Hortons could not be reached for comment by press time.
**SOURCE** I still can't believe you did this Tims. You fucking had to go public.
What are those little balls anyways, donut holes?
What are those little balls anyways, donut holes?
They're called "Timbits" when they come from Tim Hortons and I'm not sure if the generic name has followed suit here in Canada.
I hope you Canucks enjoy greasy and incredibly salty American cuisine.
BK is disgusting
I live in Alabama, what is a tim hortons exactly? Pardon my ignorance. [editline]25th August 2014[/editline]
BK is disgusting
I'll fight you, pilgrim.
I like BK. Mainly because whenever I eat it, I'm craving for something that looks heart-attacky, but isn't quite that bad.
I live in Alabama, what is a tim hortons exactly? Pardon my ignorance. [editline]25th August 2014[/editline] I'll fight you, pilgrim.
im not qualified because i am a fat american pig but iirc, it is a canadian food place (coffee/donut shop?) and you dont see em outside of canada, usually. its very good, from what i heard
coffee/donut joint of our country
I AM CULTURED
I live in Alabama, what is a tim hortons exactly? Pardon my ignorance. [editline]25th August 2014[/editline] I'll fight you, pilgrim.
coffee/donut joint of our country, but not as greasy spoon as other chains
BK is disgusting
BK is actually among the better chains around here. McDonalds makes me sick every time I eat there and Wendey's gives me charcoal on a bun. BK is actually kinda fresh.
I hope you Canucks enjoy greasy and incredibly salty American cuisine.
This honestly will probably have no effect on the consumer.
i've found that BK has zero taste like at all mcdonalds is best, yeah it's greasy as shit, but that's why you're eating fast food in the first place
Bk is awful, even by fast food standards. Just go to a Wendy's.
i've found that BK has zero taste like at all mcdonalds is best, yeah it's greasy as shit, but that's why you're eating fast food in the first place
McDonalds is alright but lots of American (or at least southern) chains like Whataburger, Raising Canes/Chick Fil A, Five Guys, In n Out, etc. are much better.
I live in Alabama, what is a tim hortons exactly? Pardon my ignorance. [editline]25th August 2014[/editline] I'll fight you, pilgrim.
You know Dunkin' Doughnuts? It's the Canadian version of that, except also better. There are more Tim Hortons in Canada than any other fast food joint. There's about 7 of them on my university campus alone.
im not qualified because i am a fat american pig but iirc, it is a canadian food place (coffee/donut shop?) and you dont see em outside of canada, usually. its very good, from what i heard
It's slowly making its way through the northern states. Though it's subtitled Cafe and Bake Shop for some reason.
BK is actually among the better chains around here. McDonalds makes me sick every time I eat there and Wendey's gives me charcoal on a bun.
i've found that BK has zero taste like at all mcdonalds is best, yeah it's greasy as shit, but that's why you're eating fast food in the first place
McDonalds is shit and you should feel bad. Wendy's Master Race reporting in.
I hope you Canucks enjoy greasy and incredibly salty American cuisine.
Taste the [del]OIL[/del] FREEDOM!
You know Dunkin' Doughnuts? It's the Canadian version of that, except also better. There are more Tim Hortons in Canada than any other fast food joint. There's about 7 of them on my university campus alone.
BETTER THAN DD? WHERE'S MY FUCKIN' PASSPORT
And here in post socialist country fastfoods like McDonalds and Burger King are actually more expensive than buying normal food. So I eat normal food, or Chinese, and can't really complain.
McDonalds is shit and you should feel bad. Wendy's Master Race reporting in.
Wendy's has some god tier burgers, and their fries and pretty good as well. Definitely the best of the more mainstream chains.
Burger King can fuck off. Tim Hortons has amazing morning burgers and good coffee.
You guys realize they are looking to buy the franchise not turn them into Burger Kings right?
People are acting like BK is gonna march in and start putting cyanide in the coffee. Most likely nothing will change.
McDonalds is shit and you should feel bad. Wendy's Master Race reporting in.
Taco Bell 4 lyfe motherfuckerz
True, I did like the Whopper back in the day, and the McDonalds patties just don't do it for me tbh.
Every time I get a burger from BK I have to double check to make sure I didn't walk into a commercial.
but iirc, it is a canadian food place (coffee/donut shop?) and you dont see em outside of canada, usually.
Depends on where you live. I see tons of them where I live. They're pretty nice.
It's slowly making its way through the northern states. Though it's subtitled Cafe and Bake Shop for some reason.
They do that in the US because Dunkin' has such deep roots in the market Tim's fills in Canada that they determined it's easier to market themselves as a competitor to Starbucks than Dunkin'.
I doubt they'd do a hostile rebranding since the name is so popular in Canada. At worst, they'd probably introduce Tim Hortons brand sides at BK and vice versa at existing Horton chains.
