University of Texas Student gets hit by bus, survives - General

The bus ran a red light, and the kid jumped the gun too soon. The kid is alright though, he went to the hospital and was released later.

It's both their faults, but shame on the bus driver for running a red light. You'd think a professional driver would know better, especially with kids lined up on both ends of the street waiting to go through.

Holy fucking shit. I don't think I've actually ever seen a video that intense... I mean, all those people standing there.. Just look how far and straight he flew.

Well this is what happens when you have a sword fight in a busy street, I'm not saying "no fun allowed" but seriously dumb tradition. Bus driver was an idiot too by going through that red light.

Just think about it, that bus could weigh anywhere between 20,000 to 40,000 pounds. Going fast or not, that's still a lot of force to get the bus moving in the first place. It already doesn't take much force to break bones, collapse a lung, or get a concussion, if anything just having a sprain would be very fortunate. He was very lucky.

Really in that same situation if he was turned the wrong way he could have some serious brain damage or be dead, it doesn't take a lot to kill someone

There is only so many people needed to help someone up or take care of someone. Chances are most of them didn't know first aid so they couldn't do much other than watch from a closer perspective or "help". 400 people rushing to 1 persons aid is stupid as it can cause a whole lot more problems than a few.

I once got hit by a bus on the way home from school whilst walking along the footpath on the side of the road. Then again, it was just a bonk from a side mirror on the bus

Well, if the bus ran a red light, it really wasnt the kids fault, since there should not have been any cars on the road at that time

It takes a weird amount of force to kill someone. People have been beaten with bats and hit by cars and get up afterwards. Other people take a punch to the head and end up with brain damage. Humans are surprisingly robust, but also surprisingly fragile at the same time.

I couldn't help but laugh. But if the situation had been more dire, I probably would have felt bad for him.
