I dont know where else to put this but I thought this category would be the most appropriate. Anyways I need monetization advice with YouTube. Over the past couple of months I have been uploading myself playing through the game "The Walking Dead". For about a month I didn't upload any parts as my recording software was pissing me off but now I got it sorted and I have uploaded two parts. Unfortunately unlike the other 14 parts I uploaded they have both been rejected for monetization even though its pretty much exactly the same. I do have an intro but the music is royalty free so I dont think it would be that. Anyways they sent me two different emails on why they been rejected: "This email is regarding the monetization of your video "The Walking Dead - Part #15" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_zbtzbuAf8). We have not been able to verify that you have the appropriate commercial use rights for all visual and/or audio elements. As a result, your video is not being monetized. Please note that YouTube reserves the right to make the final decision regarding video monetization, and partners who repeatedly submit ineligible videos may lose the ability to monetize. As next steps, please read our frequently asked questions on commercial use rights before enabling another video for monetization. Thanks, The YouTube Team" And "At this time, we are unable to approve your video(s) because we do not have sufficient information regarding your commercial use rights. We may consider your video(s) for further review provided you verify that you are authorized to commercially use all of the elements of your content. This includes all video, images, music, video game footage, and any other audio or visual elements. Please submit your additional information below: "The Walking Dead - Part #16" Remember that a variety of factors, such as video performance, may affect review time. Thanks, The YouTube Team" If anyone knows why YouTube would just stop letting me monetize my videos or how I may prove to them that I have the rights to do this then that would help a lot :)
I'd say just stick with it because otherwise they might just swipe the monetisation from the rest of your vids.

Video game content may be monetized if the associated step-by-step commentary is strictly tied to the live action being shown and provides instructional or educational value. Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization.
AdSense is shit, don't use it and give them money. Got banned for nothing
AdSense is shit, don't use it and give them money. Got banned for nothing
Same happened to me - I got banned for no reason as soon as I reached $80 in revenue on my site. This happened to a lot of people, actually.
AdSense is shit, don't use it and give them money. Got banned for nothing
what's an alternative
what's an alternative
Partner with a third-party network instead of immediately through YouTube. Generally more forgiving, and quicker on support. As for OP, you're not talking in the video. You need commentary in let's plays to be eligable for monetization last time I checked.
I wouldn't monetize your videos. Instead partner with a network, I know many people who got their adsense banned through monetizing videos and once it's banned you can't get partnered with a network, if that's what you're looking to do in the future.
You aren't reviewing, commentating or parodying the original material (read up on fair use) so you're basically uploading it verbatim and trying to monetize it. I don't know why you'd even try to monetize straight gameplay videos.
I monetized my drum videos, and so far I've earned 0.51 dollars in 2 months.
If you're really trying to get money from your vids then you need to apply for a partnership with a gaming network (like Machinima, Yeousch, etc), you're not legally allowed to monetize gaming videos otherwise.
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/youtube/wRKFYtTwufI I would suggest, keep making videos until you get a small fanbase going, then apply for Thegamestation. You actually need explicit permission from the people who own the rights to the game, to monetize gameplay(unless it's review/parody under fair use). Minecraft, and FTL comes to mind where the devs have given permission for monetization. Most smaller studios/indies will give you permission, just make sure to ask, and keep a record of it. What networks like Thegamestation do, let's you bypass this, as they have a license/agreement with the game creators, allowing you to monetize gameplay.
Cheers all for the advice, I'll look into partnering with a network (have a mate who is already)
Don't join machinima though.
This video really doesn't lie.
