Me and my mother were talking about how long it would last. We both agreed the fad would start dying down the moment the weather gets colder.
We live in Chicago too, and lemme tell you all, you think you've seen a snow storm before, or balls up your body cold? Try lake effect weather sometime, it's a real amplifier for weather here.

But what better time to collect ice type pokemans?
And it's really not that bad man. Hit -56F once in the years I lived there but otherwise eh.

Everyone meets in an area and has a giant snowball fight. All the Pokemon Go training means they are amazing at their aim.
Sounds like a blast to me.
I can't even play the game properly because I have no mobile data.
My city has basically the same weather year round so seeing Pokemon GO players will always be assured.
Also helps that Niantic is based in the city so support will be run through here all the time.
Its the middle of winter here deep in the south so its too cold to go outside

I can't wait for northern California winter where it's in the mid 70's and I can play pokemon go before 10 pm
