• People on the internet vs. real life

Most people you know on the internet you probably don't know in real life. You may see their posts but never talk to them personally (i.e. MSN, ect.) Take for example Hezzy. He's usually a quick-witted wise-cracker on the forums. I've had him on my MSN list for a while now. I started up a conversation with him the other night, not expecting a response. However, he responded rather quickly and we had quite the convo about Facebook, and FP. To be honest, I was nervous talking to him (even though I shouldn't be) just because I was afraid I may something wrong. Nobody really wants to upset Hez, right? The truth is that while some people may act like real dicks on the internet, they may actually be pretty decent people in real life. I know this is common knowledge but fuck I just came to this realization. Anybody that you've met on the internet and in real-life? (no having your best friend join Facebook, not like that, like meeting Garry in real life) If I were to meet someone like Garry in real life I'd just try to be "normal" inside the constraints of I've got quite the nerves. How about you people?
I'm usually a dick on the internet but I'm a real nice guy in person.
Facebook lets you see how people you know act on the internet. Sometimes it's radically different from how they act in real life.
Meeting someone you knew over the internet would be a little wierd for me, personally.
I'm more of a dick in real life but excellent thread! Possible thread of the year
Yeah, I've met "internet people" before. Most of them are really nice, although you have to be careful with the odd ones. The big thing about the internet is that since you can't really see the person you're talking to, you tend to forget they're an actual person.
I met The Wine Cone from Youtube in real life. Surprisingly he's just as nice as he is on Youtube, maybe even more normal than he portrays himself too.
I met LordJaffa then realised I were going to his Sixth Form. :v:
Never met anyone from the internet irl.
I have a few people I've met on Facepunch that happen to be in my school or in my town that I get to know well.
I'm a dick IRL and a dick on the net :smug:
I'm sort of a mix; I can be nice or a dick. However I try my best to be a nice, thoughtful person (unless I'm goofing around with friends)
This wouldn't apply to Gurant. :v: Also I'm nice IRL [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/img]
I'm nice on the internet and in real life. I kind of believe in that whole load of crap cyber bullying thing. Why would you say something on the internet and be a internet tough guy, if you wouldn't say it in real life.
With any sense of anonymity, people will act differently.
i like internet people more than real people
I have talked to a few facepunchers over msn, although none of them were really dicks here, so I don't know about the "dick transformation". They do seem to loosen up a bit since they aren't walking the social tightrope that is fp
I prefer to separate my internet and personal life. I'm a nice, quiet, and funny guy in real life but it's different on the internet

I'm much more open in the internet than in real life. Must be because I'm hard of hearing. I may be a bit more crude in the internet but I love to hear and tell jokes in both worlds.

I'm a dick IRL. I'm a dick here. GET OVA IT

My policy is the same both here and in real life: I'm generally a nice guy, unless you're an idiot, then yeah, I'm kind of a dick.
I want to meet Captnduck from those Dwarf Fortress videos. I love his accent and he seems like a really interesting and nice guy.
I'm a dick IRL. I'm a dick here. GET OVA IT
Being a dick is so cool!!! You are relentless!! How you said GET OVA IT (love the spelling of over btw) that was so "not give a fuck!" Nice one bro
I find it a lot easier to act and talk on the internet than real life
Go to a Speed Dating meetup, or look at that "Dating in the Dark" TV show. Both of those will also show how the slightest anonymity will change the way people act.
Because it's the internet.
Yeah, fuck you.
I'm nice and polite on here. I'm a prick otherwise
