The name comes from the fact that most, if not all, of the members were previously in death or black metal bands. When asked about the origin of the name in an interview, they commented with something along the lines of, "We picked the name 'Deathstars' because we all came from death metal bands, and we kinda consider ourselves star players from our maiden bands. Later, when we heard about a giant evil space station that could destroy planets called the Deathstar, we thought 'Hey, that's cool.'" Placing their genre is hard, as with several industrial acts. Their song styles have ranged from death metal, black metal, alternative metal, and "cyber metal". Taking their excessive use of make-up and tongue-displaying (as shown in the above picture) from KISS - who was a major influence of the band's members when they were growing up - Deathstars more often than not play live concerts with their shirts off, and every music video they've made so far included all the members wearing their makeup. It's become a trademark style for them, as it did for KISS. Their "glam" appearance was where they got the name "Deathglam", which they refer to as the music they play. This was also the working title of their third and soon-to-be-released album, now named Night Electric Night The Members Whiplasher Primary vocalist Cat Casino Guitarist. Machine Drummer Synthetic Generation The band's first full-length release, Synthetic Generation, was released in 2003. This is the only album to feature "Beast X Electric" (not featured in member list above) on guitar. The album was considered industrial metal because, although there was a strong influence of death and black metal prominent - especially in the lyrical content - there weren't enough elements of said genres to classify them. One of these most noticeable characteristics - or lack thereof - is the use of "clean" vocals. The vocals (by Whiplasher and Skinny) are clean compared to most death metal and black metal acts. The vocals are not screamed or shrieked, a common characteristic of black metal, nor are they growled or rasped, a trait common to death metal. Instead, the vocals are for the most part sung, parsed through effects to give a deep, sinister semi-death metal feel. This sound is unique to Deathstars - Indeed, I have not heard another metal band use a vocal style such as they do. Termination Bliss Termination Bliss, the sophmore release of Swedish industrial metal band Deathstars, is in the same vein as their debut release, Synthetic Generation. The only change is that Beast X Electric was fired between recording the first album and this album. Night Electric Night Deathstars' third album, Night Electric Night, is scheduled for release January 30, 2009. Originally announced under the working title Deathglam, it was recently announced on the band's site the album had been renamed. Deathstars has recently released a single from this album, "Death Dies Hard". Those are girls right?
Those are girls right?
If that's a girl then fuck I think I just may go gay. :geno: Edit: Cat, on the other hand, does look very feminine. I believe he used to be a model, actually.

Not as bad as I was expecting. I kinda like to see bands still doing the makeup type thing that most people will condemn as a gimmick.
they are doing great music, thought they look gay, I've seen them live once :)
THAT'S A DUDE?!?!?
Just to add to the confusion, I believe he played a girl in the music video for Syndrome. And in the music video for Synthetic Generation, the frontman/vocalist, Whiplasher, has his hair in pigtails. :keke: Edit:
they are doing great music, thought they look gay, I've seen them live once :)
People seem to be too judgemental of their appearance to give them a listen. I wonder if KISS encountered the same homophobia... :(
Did anyone else think of Marylin Manson when they saw the pictures and heard the songs?
That's about the fucking gayest shit I have ever seen. Sorry.
That's about the fucking gayest shit I have ever seen. Sorry.
Thank you for not being homophobic or close-minded and on judging the band on their music rather than their glam stage appearance :) Edit:
Did anyone else think of Marylin Manson when they saw the pictures and heard the songs?
Yeah, they've been compared to Cradle of Filth and Marilyn Manson a lot for sound and appearance.

I listened to it. And I can be as close minded and homophobic as I want. AS long as I don't look like those freaky mother fuckers, I'm golden.
The music sucks ass. I listened to it. And I can be as close minded and homophobic as I want. AS long as I don't look like those freaky mother fuckers, I'm golden.
It's real simple; don't like the content, leave the thread. The people in the comics section have yet to figure this out, but hopefully you guys can. At least you're honest, though.
The music sucks ass. I listened to it. And I can be as close minded and homophobic as I want. AS long as I don't look like those freaky mother fuckers, I'm golden.
You're sitting here bashing these guys about looking the way that they do, using "gay" as an insult. While you're in the other thread praising blessthefall and Escape the Fate? Fuck. You.
You're sitting here bashing these guys about looking the way that they do, using "gay" as an insult. While you're in the other thread praising blessthefall and Escape the Fate? Fuck. You.
You would be someone to stand up for some shit like this. Figures. Even so, I never said I like the way EtF or BtF dress. Not that I hate it. But their music certainly doesn't suck ass, like the band this thread is centered around. If you would like to further this conversation, why don't you send me a PM.
You would be someone to stand up for some shit like this. Figures.
What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
I FUCKING LOVE THIS BAND, THEY ARE MY MOST FAVORITE BAND EVER!!! No matter how many times I hear the song blitzkrieg, I still love it Edit: There's no denying they look gay, but their music is awesome
I like the sound, but I seriously don't like their makeup.
Only song I don't like by them is Razor End, and that's just because of the female vocals in the song
They sound pretty good, I have to say.
Trinity Fields really is a sick song, I don't if it's about a father raping his daughter or a Priest raping a young boy
Well it's certainly different. I'm not sure if I like it or not though.
I'd need to hear a higher quality version of the new song to be sure, but that new album doesn't sound bad. I'm so glad they're finally making it, I loved these guys before I got bored of them. My favourite songs are Blitzkrieg and Our God The Drugs, but there's nothing wrong with any of them.
Trinity Fields really is a sick song, I don't if it's about a father raping his daughter or a Priest raping a young boy
It's about Thiestic Satanism, or more precisely, about a Christian turning to worshipping Satan. The video I posted is actually a Cradle of Filth video put to Deathstar's Trinity Fields.
9mm THROUGH YOUR FUCKING HEAD. one of my favorite in all songs
What the fucking shit is "Deathglam"? These guys are pretty good, though. I like.
What the fucking shit is "Deathglam"? These guys are pretty good, though. I like.
Death metal - a genre of extreme metal typically utilizing fast double-bass blastbeats, extremely distorted guitar, and guttural brutal vocals, usually growled. Glam metal - a "genre", though more of a label, of heavy metal where the band is popularized more by their appearance than by their music. Also known as "hair metal" due to their stereotypically whacky fashions of hair and wearing skin-tight leather clothes (such as Europe, a popular glam/hair metal band) or by wearing excessive makeup and black clothing (such as KISS, another popular glam/hair metal). Deathglam - Fuse the two. :)
NO WAY is this band metal, no way. It really pisses me off when people go "COS THERE'S ELECTRIC GUITARS AND IT'S ALL HEAVY AND THEY SCREAM AND THEY HAVE GRIMM MAKEUP AND SHIT IT'S METAL" without actually listening to the music and hearing, this is NOT metal. It's industrial, nothing more, nothing less. That music is FAR too simple to be considered any genre of metal.
Industrial is simpler than metal? Pshaw
They're ok but I think they really deserve their title of "Death Metal for preppy chicks"
