I lurk a lot, hence the posts. Once thing I've noticed, that I like to call it the Facepunch Phenomena, things can start out funny and appealing, this for example, or another example, HowtoBasic. It's hilarious at first, but once it reaches popularity to almost everyone else, it dies to Facepunchers.

for me, it died around the time he started adding jump cuts and spending most of the video pretend shitting on eggs

I think that's simply the fact that seeing the same thing over and over again isn't funny, just like seeing old people react to things over and over again stops being funny very quickly.

Or just the fact that rehashing the same shit and repeating jokes just isn't funny in the long run. And with finebros it's obvious that they're doing it solely for the money.
And I really dislike the "before it was cool" notion. One is exposed to a lot of stuff before it gets popular here, and if it lacks in longevity then of course it's going to be uninteresting by the time it reaches mass appeal. If something, take a video series on Youtube for example, is well written and manages to stay fresh - then it'll be deemed funny (or whatever) after it becomes popular as well.

I never liked TheFineBros or whatever from the start for the same reason I don't like RWJ: using others' videos to gain money. Besides, it's always the same sort of stuff, unlike people who always put out different stuff like Vsauce, Criken, you know what I mean. The only reason others DO like TheFineBros and such is because they don't think about what they're watching. I like to call it the "horde effect". People are already there and more people are attracted to what a lot of people are already attracted to, thinking "it's good because it's popular", resulting in a sort of cycle. Other people like us (along with some other people) actually think about what we're watching.
What can I say though, I'm still a part of Facepunch.
They also cashed in on the Newtown shooting by doing a "kids react to" video on it.
There's really only so many times (one) that seeing old people go "OH MAH GAWSH WELL I NEVER BACK IN MAH DAY AHM SO OFFENDED BY THIS YOUNG-PEOPLE-ORIENTED-CONTENT" will be funny.

Finebros hate has far more to do with exploitation and being shit and less about trying to be some facepunch hipster.
Also how to basic was funny at first because it WAS funny at first, but he dragged on the same fucking joke, especially the stupid egg shit, and ruined it himself.
