A Bolingbrook police officer spotted—and filmed—playing video poker while driving his squad car in a snowstorm has been identified, Bolingbrook Lt. Mike Rompa said. He said many of the questions about what happens next cannot be answered at this time. How was the officer identified? By markings on the squad car? Does the officer face disciplinary action? Will the officer be terminated? "The officer in this video has been identified," Rompa said. "Due to the seriousness of this incident, the Bolingbrook Police Department has placed this under an internal investigation." How long will it take to complete the investigation? "These are questions which cannot be answered until the conclusion of the investigation," Rompa said. "I cannot supply a time frame, nor can I go into specifics at this time." The video of the officer playing video poker first was posted on YouTube Tuesday night, Jan. 7. By Wednesday morning, the video had logged 777 views. The poster of the video said the incident occurred on Jan. 4. And the officer's squad car is covered in places with snow, the result of a two-day storm that hit the area. The National Weather Service reported a 7-inch snowfall total for Bolingbrook from Jan. 4-5. I am so glad he got caught and hope he receives punishment for this. The roads out here in south Chicagoland we're extremely dangerous all week
Hahaha damn I live 5 minutes from Bolingbrook.
I didn't realize he was driving, i just read over the article quickly. I though they meant he was just in the car rather then actually moving... What the fuck is this dude thinking.
Tbh he could have been on break or on lunch. I was doing a ride along with a cop and for our lunch hour we stopped and watched stupid videos on youtube. Of course if there was an emergency call we would have had to stop, but no one called.
the difference is that he's driving
Its threads like this that I expect to see yawnmen to tell us how all cops are pigs and we need to live in anarchy and fend for ourselves. But then I remember he's perma'ed and I die a little. Its not the same without his extremism.
what a badass
heh. Hope his dashcam wasnt on.. that thing records the computer screen. A shift got their asses chewed once by the sgt for watching porn on the computers. No one confessed to it, but he made it clear that the things they go to get tracked
the difference is that he's driving
The difference is he's a cop and is trained to drive in different situations than regular Joe Shmoes... He's not even veering any direction, he may not even be looking at it, it may just be up on his screen.
Hey my state's in the news!

The idea that he is somehow trained to play poker while driving at high speeds is a bit silly. What if the car in front of him stops abrupty? What if something jumps out at him? What if there's a pothole or something like this?

You get 2 weeks paid leave for the incident.
