I had some of those bangers, they are called "Crow scaring banger ropes" and you get them from farmer's shops they are tied to that rope he was using to light them. you light the rope and one goes off every 30mins, they are alot of fun but i got banned from buying them from the shop because i was buying boxes and taking all the bangers off the rope and selling them for a £ for 2.

The story about the glass in his finger reminds me of a guy who worked at a metal shop. He had to get a MRI scan but he couldn't get it for a while because there had been a piece of metal lodged in his hand for ~10 years.
