really interesting stuff, pirating finds a way
Very nicely made video and super interesting.
The cuban tech culture is interesting.
I'm surprised Dany was willing to appear on camera. Does the government just not give a shit, and let them do whatever?
Also shit, they got better piracy than we do here.
I feel like this is ultimately a good thing though. There any darker side to this industry?

Cuba isn't the best when it comes to handling stuff like this. Cubans keep things on the hush-hush most of the time. And being that internet in Cuba isn't like it is here in the states, the Cuban government has no clue this is going on really. It's amazing how much stuff Cubans get away with there. And it's also amazing to see how stuff like piracy works in Cuba. You're right, it is better than it is here in the states :v:
Vox is like a better, less yellow Vice, and an interesting topic on top of that. A modern day sneakernet! Reminds me of a similar case in Peru:

I'm guessing Cuba doesn't have the tech or database needed to track down a man from photos of the outside of his apartment, or even his face.
It's really strange seeing piracy systems like these in developing countries when I'm so used to just googling the title of something and choosing the least shady site on the first page of google.

I'm willing to wave this off as misinformation and jumping on the PC bandwagon, solely because what little info they get right is very interesting and well-presented. All of these channels have their shitty videos.
I would like to see a similar report, but from North Korea.
The more oppressed & censored people are, the more they pirate things, any things.

Well color film and cameras do have a harder time capturing images of darker people, and human vision is logarithmic and is more sensitive with lighter colors.
Then they went into how technology should equalize people blah blah blah and they lost me.

Ha, whoops. Still, you can't complain when its either DVD quality or nothing.

Yeah the level of ineptitude and desperate searching for a little holier-than-thou racial lesson was unbearable towards the end when they started to imply that engineering/chemistry problems equate to racism and cultural bias
theyve got better streaming services than we do D:
fuck our copyright system sometimes
