The French national police team that have lost a service dog during a recent anti-terrorist raid in Paris suburb may soon welcome a new four-legged member from Russia. In a gesture of support, Russia’s Interior Ministry has decided to send a German Shepherd puppy to the French police that lost a seven-year-old Belgian Shepherd service dog, named Diesel, in the Saint-Denis raid against the suspected mastermind behind the deadly terror attacks in Paris that claimed 130 lives last week. Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev has forwarded a letter to his French counterpart Bernard Cazeneuve, expressing sympathy in relation to the deadly attacks in Paris. “I assure you of our readiness to cooperate against crime and terrorism,” the minister wrote. “The puppy is called Dobrynya after a Russian epic knight, who is a symbol of strength, kindness, bravery and selfless help. The puppy will be sent to France as a sign of solidarity with the French people and police in fight against terrorism,” ministry's spokesperson Elena Alekseyeva wrote on her Instagram page.
https://www.rt.com/news/322935-pup-russia-france-jesuisdiesel/ [img]https://facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img]
Little gestures like this make me optimistic the civilised world may actually be able to rally against IS(IS)
That's awesome, and that's a really cool name considering the context of all this. Looks difficult to pronounce though. [editline]21st November 2015[/editline] Also unrelated: does the Russian Interior Ministry exclusively employ hulk people? Those two supercops look like they could crack walnuts by angrily flexing at them.
Little gestures like this make me optimistic the civilised world may actually be able to rally against IS(IS)
I wish Russia's eagerness to help was sincere
I wish Russia's eagerness to help was sincere
Against Terrorists, Somthing they've been dealing with for a long time now? I'd say it'd make sense this they're as much in danger as the rest of the world from ISIS, plus Russia has a track record of cracking down HARD on any terrorist plots in Russia
Little gestures like this make me optimistic the civilised world may actually be able to rally against IS(IS)
If only we could stay all friends after the daeshbags are turned into ashes... I bet we'll all go back to making squinty suspicious eyes at each other.

Let's not forget staged terrorist acts and journalist kidnapping by FSB. Sure screams "yeah you can trust us."
I wish Russia's eagerness to help was sincere
I know ur from Ukraine and ur biased, but Russia has lost 240 people with no chances from a really small and simple bomb. If there is one thing you can trust Russia doing, that is fucking shit up.
The puppy is actually a clever ploy so that in a few years Russia can invade France to save oppressed Russian Minorities
I know ur from Ukraine and ur biased, but Russia has lost 240 people with no chances from a really small and simple bomb.
When did Russia act in the interests of its people?
That's adorable! Very thoughtful of them.
diesel is difficult to pronounce?
Diesel was the French dog.
Awwww, faith in Russian people is still sky high.
In a gesture of support, Russia’s Interior Ministry has decided to send a German Shepherd puppy to the French police that lost a seven-year-old Belgian Shepherd service dog
A Belgian Malinois is not the same as a German Sheppard. I'd be thankful, but disappointed because Malinois' are better dogs than Sheppards for police work.
Staged terrorist acts?
Putin explodes houses, Beslan was an inside job, NordOst was a murderfest... you know, the usual crap.
Putin explodes houses, Beslan was an inside job, NordOst was a murderfest... you know, the usual crap.
Nord-Ost was a completely unnecessary murderfest though. The guys who took hostages there were every negotiator's dream come true, and it totally could've been resolved without the amount of violence that was applied.
The puppy is actually a clever ploy so that in a few years Russia can invade France to save oppressed Russian Minorities
It's okay they need to invade the entire Europe first (Or use a lot of boats)
the puppy is a sleeper agent
That's the cutest fucking puppy Maybe ISIS just needs a cute puppy and they'll re-evaluate their life choices [sp]and light themselves on fire[/sp]

It's mainly that english has a massive vowel shift, which makes a lot of European languages seem weird to an english reader. Not to mention Russian has some diphthongs with y which make it look odder still. Y sounds different to ya (in english E and Ya) Dobrynya also probably means something like goodman - origin of the character. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dobrynya Basically you'd pronounce it something like Do-(as in DOck)-bree-nja(as in n+YAk)

Too bad that they were dumb enough to not tell any emergency services about the gas they were using, that was the biggest fuck up while the actual taking of the theatre worked out pretty decently

Dobrynya can be roughly understood as "the kind/caring one", also the word "dobry" used to have a secondary meaning, "powerful, mighty", and in that name the two meanings converge as both "caring and mighty one".
the operation worked out pretty well considering the government didn't want to negotiate with the terrorists. Bandits, more like. "Not negotiating with terrorists" policy usually means not changing policies in accordance with demands issued under a threat of stuff blowing up and the like, you know, acts considered "terror". Or after those acts. Not basic hostage situation. And there actually were negotiations in progress - they were just wrapped up when the order was given to prepare for the direct assault. Someone pretty high up in the ministry of defence or internal affairs really didn't want any trial to happen, that's pretty evident. The... unfortunate events that followed the 'top secret not to be disclosed under any circumstances' gas getting released are entirely different fuck up on some other, way lower, level.
