• Need help with logo design

I was tasked to create a logo for some company called "Integrity Informatics" that deals with information technology, where their main goal is integrity, or something like that. Apparently this is all confidential information, but right now they are pissing me off because they are not giving me any idea on what they want incorporated in their logo. They basically said, "I don't know, you make one.", Since they're being annoying, I don't give shit about their fake confidentiality bullcrap and I am coming to Facepunch for some guidance. I set off and I thought, "hmm... integrity can be visualized with a pillar I guess..." and so I made this I added the globe because I imagined how awesome it'd look if I animated it to rotate and it also makes another "i" I do admit that it's not perfect. I hate the font, but everyone else I've showed it to said they loved it (as a whole). However when I showed it to my client, they were like, "yeah...try going in a totally new direction... and add some colors" in which I responded, "well what direction and colors do you want?" which they said, "I dunno, figure it out...be creative..." I'd tell them to shove it, but they promised me a nice contract for future graphic design work which will hopefully pay some decent money which I desperately need right now. Also I'm no graphic artist or an artist at all. I'm just some guy with Photoshop.
Logo's need to be as simple as possible. Idea, try making the pedestal represent the I's at the start of each work, and then the dot at the top be the earth. Something like this:

Right now it feels more old timey. I'd make it out of a streamlined font and break it up into horizontal bars. It's a cheap trick to make it look technology related (see IBM and AT&T's sphere). I'd use orange or blue or something. Don't use green ever because it prints like shit.

The problem is, I can't figure out a more streamlined and modern idea at the moment. I'm not actually an artist and also lack artistic creativity.
There is definitely too much going on right now. If they told you to go for integrity and that's all they said... try it out! The Earth is very out of place and adds a whole new set of details to the logo. Try working with just the pillar combined with and "I"; it is a relatively good idea, and with some stylistic flair could imply progression, professionalism, and many other traits a business is bound to favour. Depending on the client as well, you don't have to be afraid to go abstract. Just make sure you do some "beta"-testing first, to prevent what you think looks great becoming a world-wide laughing stock because of its penis-like characteristics. Inspiration is key. Look at other logos, pictures of things that display integrity. For something such as integrity, architecture can be a good starting point which you have already picked up on with your use of a pillar. Try out some column shapes as well, as they will be more easily defined by viewers as a symbol of integrity. Pardon my personal plug (Logos created by me, some for real things, sorry if they shouldn't be posted, but whatever.: Logos can be clever and literal: Or slightly abstract: Or convey an emotion / or in this case an excitement level: Or can demonstrate the principles:
I made a new one. Very simple design. It's completely unpolished though. It's supposed to be a fountain pen tip. I feel like it's too big though, and if I shrink it, it looks funny. I'm terrible at this whole creativity thing... Here's another one I made. But then again, what's a feather have to do with information or integrity?
Sans Serif if you want it to look new age
I actually really like the pen-tip idea. Just needs a bit of tweaking. Generally with an odd shape like that it takes some fiddling to make it look proper size. I think first of all it should be centered vertically with the text.
Sans Serif if you want it to look new age
+1 we're talking about a tech company here. Just use Helvetica Neue
+1 we're talking about a tech company here. Just use Helvetica Neue
Helvetica Neue is 29 bucks... I don't have the money at the moment to spend on the offshoot chance they might like it. The problem is if I show them, they'll be like "I don't know...." They also don't like the pen nub. Ugh.
okay so it goes something like this first if your gonna be a graphic designer and u dont have helvetica and other basic good looking fonts that every designer should have in their arsenal wtf is wrong with you, spend $29 or just download it, it's worth it to have second, if the people dont like the logo, dont just resubmit a slightly changed version of what you submitted, which you are doing, completely change it and look at it from a different approach. third, fucking draw sketches damn it, then bring it onto the computer i was a graphic designer at a company for a little over a year and i went to school for it for like 3 years until i realized how much i hated it and clients, so i kind of know what im talking about oh also, good job with the whole "not caring about confidentiality" thing and making yourself look like a real bitch
I agree, sketching is very important. However, Helvetica isn't a necessary. It is nice, but there are many fonts that are just as good and more unique.
I'll take your gig if you don't want it anymore :unsmith:

Sure its overused in todays design world but its what people want a lot
