These actually started out as an automatic rifle like a BAR or a Bren but I wasn't happy with the way it was going and they ended up being semi-automatic rifles instead. I like the way they look so much I decided to use them as replacements for my old R36 designs, the downside is I still need an automatic rifle. I'm still not too sure about the way the receiver looks, which is why I'm posting this here. The receiver is supposed to be flat sided like a BAR or Garand but it defiantly needs some sort of detail somewhere, I suppose I'll sleep on it and see what I get from that. The other thing is the older designs lacked a capacity to load via stripper clips and I wanted to include this feature in a new rifle. For anyone who is curious, here's what the other versions looked like, I'll probably be keeping the Gladius bayonet, we'll see, I still need to add a bayonet lug to the vector of the new gun: 3D models:
what modelling program do you use. [editline]07:28PM[/editline] Also good work
I use both Max 2008 and Milkshape, though lately I've been using Max more since my work requires that I use it anyway, so I've been getting more comfortable with the interface.
Thanks i really want to learn to model, i have done a usp.45 but it looks crappy
Men of war is awesome! :D thought i was like the only one playing it xD
Men of War is the best engine I've ever come across in terms of modding, it's basically Garry's Mod without the constant crashing and you will never see vehicle spaz out, ever. Well, there was one time I rammed a truck full of German infantry with my heavy tank at full speed and pushed it through a wall, it spazzed and flew up in the air before crashing through a nearby rooftop as the infantry fell out of it and rained down all around the farmhouse.
Holy shit scale those pictures down please. Can we also see some orthographic pics of the gun model? The side view looks nice, but for all we know it could be ugly on other angles
I love the carbine but the retractable stock on the para model looks like it obstructs the pistol grip when in a closed position. In my opinion it might be a better idea to have it pivot up and over the barrel like this Skorpion.

I don't think have any decent orthos on hand of the old R36 rifles, I just put pictures of them up for comparison to the new rifles.
I was actually going to do exactly that but changed my mind when I found a picture of an M1 Carbine with a retracting stock. The wire stock right now is 50% of that M1 Carbine and 50% M3 Greasegun. I wanna leave the position of the stock when retracted the way it is for now until I see how well it translates to 3D, the idea is that it'll match the contours of the pistol grip fairly closely but if it does turn out too bulky I'll move it back so it's like the Greasegun.
Nearly done with the model, I still have a few more tweaks to make but other than that I am damn pleased with the result: Still need to fix the seam in the stock just forward of the magazine, add some more depth to the barrel bands, fix the gas cylinder brightness and add some scratches to the magazine. I may add some more oil stained scratches to the stock but I'm not sure yet, it needs some wear marks from webgear on the butt though. I based the metal on my M1 Carbine, minus the brown patina, not a single one of my guns have the excessive scratching muzzle to breech like you see in EVERY game these days, I'm not doing it for this reason. However, all of my detachable magazines, even the new ones, have scratches on them, it's really very hard to scratch the metal on a gun deep enough to reveal bare metal and leave a visible mark, but magazines get thrown around a lot more and get scratched because they aren't made of the super strong steel that the rest of the gun is made of. Stocks and handguards on the other hand get chipped, scratched, dented on a regular basis, especially when they rub against the webgear while you're walking.
Wow. That's looking sick. Keep truckin!
looks great.
