After the shock announcement regarding Sony saying that every single PlayStation Network account may have been compromised, reports are starting to come in pointing towards the fact that PSN users are having hundreds of dollars stolen from their account this past weekend. One PlayStation Network user, Josh Webb, emailed us after seeing the news regarding a user having $600 taken from him, stating: A total of $300 was taken from my debit card on Saturday. However, my bank called me to notify me of a suspicious transaction and they confirmed it was indeed a fraudulent withdrawal. I’ve had to cancel my card and order a new one which the bank will transfer my previous account’s money into. The thing isI worry that many users who linked their bank accounts with their PSN account are in serious danger; I hope they all call their banks to immediately take action and prevent any fraudulent withdrawals. Here’s the email in picture form where Josh requested us to report on so others were notified and took action: Of course, there’s the story which many believed to be fake that VGN365 reported recently; a PSN user had $600 taken from their account. In the same story, Mike said he was also a victim of fraud: "I had $200 taken out my debit card as well. This occurred in Florida and I live in MN. Luckily my bank’s fraud dept caught it right away and I have since cancelled my card. This just sucks." Sony had today announced via the PlayStation Blog that every single person’s PSN credit card details may have been and is at risk of being compromised. VGN365 requests every PSN user that reads this story to take action regarding their bank details. We wish you all – including Josh – the best; good luck.
http://vgn365.com/2011/04/26/psn-users-reporting-hundred-of-dollars-stolen-from-them/ :ohdear:
Source please? Thank you :) Well I don't think I can take VGN365 seriously.. Just emails.. Till I see a bigger news corp picking this up, I will live in a bubble of denial. (to some at least)
Wow, this is a disaster. Whoever's hacking them isn't really doing this because of Sony anymore.
I can conceivably see people literally suing Sony to death over this I'm not kidding, they could be bankrupted
Sony is up shit creek.
Sony is a nice company and they only mean good why are people so mean :(
This is fuckin' bad
Sony is so fucked.
i would hate to be the higher ups at sony right now
I bought less than 30$ worth of stuff at least half a year ago Am I still fucked
I bought less than 30$ worth of stuff at least half a year ago Am I still fucked
Yes
I bought less than 30$ worth of stuff at least half a year ago Am I still fucked
Did you save your credit card info on there? If so, probably.
PSN Blog just updated few mins ago.
I bought less than 30$ worth of stuff at least half a year ago Am I still fucked
The hacker(s) probably have your CC number so I'd keep a close eye on it.
Thankfuly I removed my credit card info RIGHT before this happened.
Thankfuly I removed my credit card info RIGHT before this happened.
I am pretty sure that is still saved on the servers
Sony fucked up
Jesus christ. This all stemmed from the PS3 being cracked too.
Sony:
i think i speak for everyone when i say this is a huge fucking disaster that is going to fuck up sony, and a lot of people's lives. FUCK YOU HACKER(S), YOU'RE A/ALL CUNT(S)
I am pretty sure that is still saved on the servers
can anyone confirm this? Ive had a CC on there before but i took it off a few months back
I'm glad I have only used prepaid cards. I can't remember what I used for my PSN password, but I am changing passwords to my facebook, paypal, bank, etc.
Are there any good news about Sony?
It's a good thing my card expired two weeks before it happened. Though don't want any surprises in the mail.....
can anyone confirm this? Ive had a CC on there before but i took it off a few months back
Well, seeing how retarded Sony has been acting about this, I don't doubt it. I mean, first, they are aware of the problem and don't give any warning and instead try and hide it and fix it. Then they tell us "Oh yeah the servers are down because someone hacked it and stole everyone's personal information. No hard feelings right?" Now I can kinda see why they were getting after anyone who hacked there PS3. Cause there security was absolute shit.
Time to go cancel my card.
How did all of this start in the first place?
oh god... my credit card information was saved im pretty sure... sony kinda deserved this, with the whole geohot thing. but UGH whoever is doing this isnt trying to get back at sony anymore...
"PS3 has no [del]games[/del] security" Seriously, way to drop the ball, Sony.
How did all of this start in the first place?
Someone made a program thing so you could turn a PS3 into a dev ps3. From there it stemmed into being able to connect to PSN servers, and access the servers themselves
