With the launch of Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Singapore introduced an official mascot, Inori Aizawa, an original anime character who fights "the dark side of the internet." Inori hits the anime checklist with magical girl transformation scene and cutesy personality. Inori's transformation, both magical and otherwise, will take her from "a ragtag past to a modern, attractive and powerful young lady" -- much how Internet Explorer hopes it has emerged from its painful past.
Internet Explorer posted a short animation on YouTube featuring the anime character fighting robots. Inori will be featured at Anime Festival Asia in Singapore this weekend. On the character's Facebook page, she is characterized as someone who "used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl" and has since matured, making her sound like the run-of-the-mill anime heroine. Collateral Damage Studios, a local art group, created Inori after seeing personifications of web browsers that did not include Internet Explorer. The group's concept for Inori was "redemption."
"We don't love Internet Explorer in the past," the group wrote on its website. "It is bulky, slow... Within our research, we learnt that [redemption] is the theme for the latest IE10 campaign. They had grown up to be better and perhaps we should give them a chance."

Because it's true.
Because it's true.
That's what he was implying.
What's even the point of personifying IE if you're not gonna characterize the mostly-emotionless mascot with the generic design anyway?
I don't get it, why spend that budget on a weightless mook fight if you want to sell the MASCOT.
Internet Explorer is so kawaii, uguu~
Chrome-chan is still best girl.
Chrome-chan is still best girl.
Aren't these kind of personifications typically referred to as -tan?

Foxgirls > Mahou shoujo
Every internet browser needs an anime girl mascot.
World C, a corrupted part of the Window's drivespace. After the attack from the Malware empire, the only known survivor is explorer.exe, a lifeform created by the now destroyed MSlabs. Will explorer.exe be able to find the Dragon Protector Comodo.exe and wipe the land of Malware? Find out in the next exciting episode of.. "Install gentoo Z"
Why did I type that.

What does any mascot have to do with anything?
So this is the official waifu IE, Mozilla should do something like this haha.

And chrome.
They should form a highschool club together.
I find it sort of funny that the weapon of choice is a blue screen and have to wonder if it's a play at BSD or WindowsBlue
So are they trying to be Japan now, where everything has an anime mascot?

If she just wouldn't always crash for me.
Now I'm picturing a Gurren Lagann scenario with Simon replaced with this thing and the Anti Spiral replaced with a typical Anon.
Internet Explorer battles the forces of stability and security, ensuring a world where people and viruses can live side by side as equals.

Okay now that is a perfect avatar for that post.
To note, Inori was acquired from a freelance artist by Microsoft: here.
Sort of following on from the mascot naming, Inori Aizawa is a (much less smart) pun, based on the pronunciation when read in Japanese form: Aizawa Inori, IE. The name Aizawa comes from the MS Silverlight mascot Hikaru Aizawa, and Inori means "to pray" so means nothing.
The Windows 7 mascot is still the best, though. Madobe Nanami. (Mado is Window, Nana is Seven.... figure it out.)
So, the mascot shows that IE is secure, fast and..I guess breaks everything?
