The series was banned from being broadcast in Victoria, Australia until the conclusion of an upcoming gangland murder trial. The order was issued on February 12, 2008 by Supreme Court judge Betty King. Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities is the prequel to Melbourne's gangland war drama -- the original Underbelly. The two-hour premiere grabbed the attention of 2.58 million viewers, making this Sydney-based mini-series a hot favourite for the best Australian show of 2009. Just started watching The Golden Mile.

I remember watching a few episodes of the first series a while back, on Virgin. I really enjoyed it, but I don't think it's on there anymore, and I have no idea where else it would be broadcast in the UK :(

It looks like an Aussie Sopranos. I dig it.

It's better than Sopranos, oh and Carl Williams was recently bashed to death in prison here, I guess he got what was coming to him.

The first season of Underbelly was really good, gritty Australian drama. Best show to come out of our country for years, but The Sopranos is one of the best shows ever created. Don't hype this show more than it deserves.
