This just aired earlier tonight. Pretty alright, I guess. Somewhat cheesy acting, terrible special effects, but it's got Dean Norris, so I'll give it another episode or two before deciding whether to stop.
Anybody else catch the pilot?
Also, before anybody says it; Yes, Simpsons did it first.
The book was so long, I only got halfway through it before giving up. Didn't know they were making a TV series, didn't see the pilot.
Please don't be terrible, please don't ruin Stephen King, please be amazing and then please make a Game of Throne-esque adaptation of the Dark Tower series. Thank you.
Somehow I doubt it will be any good when it's neutered down to CBS standards. I've been watching HBO and FX series for long that broadcast TV just feels childish by comparison.
I've recorded the first episode, but I'll probably catch it later. I'm hoping they didn't butcher the story, but at least they're doing it in episodes to actually contain the story at hand.
This should be pretty interesting. I read the book a couple of years ago and it was a good read until the ending (but then it's a Stephen King book so I can't hold that against him) and it should make a good TV show.
Also casting Dean Norris as Big Jim is a good move. In Breaking Bad he always strikes me as a well-meaning yet selfish bastard who'd like nothing more than to get all the credit for everything, so he suits Big Jim's role well.
Pretty sure there was an Outer Limits (1995) episode of this, was pretty good.
A lot of people did it before both The Simpsons and Stephen King (in 1974) :v:
Popular concept.
How was it guys?
make a Game of Throne-esque adaptation of the Dark Tower series. Thank you.
That would be glorious. The Dark Tower series has got to be one of my favorite.

I liked it.
It was better than I expected. There's a bunch of side stories of this small town that's not what it seems (Literally the premise of every single Stephen King story). Reminds me a lot of Jericho.
I can definitely see it becoming a prime time soap opera with very minor sci-fi elements. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

it has been in limbo for so very long, I think I read somewhere about King giving out the rights for $20 or something haha
That burning house thing just got too funny.
"The fence is on fire!"
"The car is on fire!"
I get too much hilarity out of things like those.
I loved the scene where the fire was lit.
I figured he was gonna burn the house down. I mean, why else light a fire in a trash can. Then push the trash can towards the drapes. Though, I laughed so hard when he ended up lighting the door on fire.

$19, since that's a significant number throughout the series.
$19, since that's a significant number throughout the series.
I should have guessed as much
though overall I do like the idea of having a series leadup to, and between, movie installments
shit would be awesome

I apologise for the quality; I didn't upload it.

It's really not that exceptionally wrong, you can read it in a day if you give it a go, and I highly recommend you do so.
Anyone been keeping up with this? I'm enjoying it so far, even though I wish it was on HBO or something other than CBS.
I wonder why they hired Bruce Willis's fat brother.
Renewed for Season Two.

Alright!
This show is stupid, but it's my kind of stupid.

It's turning into lost.
I made this, because it's all I think about when Junior's on screen.

The characters in this show are really 2D Dimensional.
I watched an episode and my only reaction is "groan." This is just mediocre.
I gave up when I heard that it was renewed for a second season. I guess I thought this was a miniseries adaptation of the book, not an open-ended ongoing series. I never read the book itself, but the synopsis pointed to some seriously dark shit going down and a strong Needful Things "hell is other people" theme. There are many things on TV I enjoy watching more than the same old bullshit CBS character drama.

From what I've heard of the book, Junior and his friends basically form [sp]a rape squad.[/sp] So I don't think there was any chance of CBS following the book all that well.
I think they've already said they were planning on somewhat deviating from the book.
