China — Home of the world's most beautiful men? Via Ozy _________________________
Women have a reputation for taking eons in the bathroom, but something tells us they’ve been thrown under the stereotype bus. In China, men hog the mirror— to rub in a bit of skin-whitening cream, pluck their eyebrows, splash on some high-end cologne and fight for the blow-dryer — all before their morning bowel movement. Boy, oh, boy. The market for male skin-care products in China is expected to reach 11.5 billion yuan, or $1.7 billion, in 2020. That’s up 50 percent from 2014, according to London-based market research firm Mintel. The common assumption is that most men don’t give two hoots about their appearance, but this male pampering (“mampering,” if you will) is standard in China. In fact, the men may have more fancy face creams — concealers, skin-nourishing lotions, skin-whitening sunscreens, cleansing creams and silky, anti-aging moisturizers — than the women do. Alibaba and JD.com, the two biggest online marketplaces in China, all tout the virtues of male beauty with specific sections of cosmetics care for men. Now, China is on the fast track to becoming the world’s biggest market for male grooming — but, in a land of 1.4 billion people, scaling up isn’t all that hard.
Pretty interesting. [editline]6th August 2016[/editline] Now that I think of it, I don't have (or use) any skin products, other than a bit of aftershave cream...
Or maybe they are the ugliest and need skincare products to make up for that?
:godzing: [editline]6th August 2016[/editline] Easy for you to say, you're a Swede. You're all good-looking bastards :v: Good ol' Billy Redtits said it best
Pretty much men taking care of their appearance is taboo in rest of the world.
Pretty much men taking care of their appearance(to that extent) is taboo in rest of the world.
And if you do, you're labeled a "fag". :v: Even then, I go out of my way and purchase high-end perfumes. Protip from one dude to another dude: as much as Hugo Boss makes the best damn perfume, check out Issey Miyake's line of perfumes.
Pfft fuck social stigmas, the only dudes who act awkward about this shit are the ones too insecure to accept that dudes can and should take care of their looks as much as chicks. I feel icky if I don't use my cleansing serums and anti aging creams on my eyes nowadays
It's kinda normal for guys to take care of their physical appearance in east asia. Westerners generally have different standards. It's just cultural differences I guess. Same thing with clothes. Americans seem to have a hateboner for guys wearing properly fitting clothes and prefer [del]ill-fitting ones[/del]more loose fitting ones for "manliness". This isn't true for all people but to me it seems that while asians generally go for looks like this(i keep reading about westerners saying that it's "gay" but idk to me it's just good grooming) [thumb]http://g01.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1BwymJFXXXXbJXXXXq6xXFXXX7/2015-autumn-winter-fashion-leisure-Korean-men-cotton-long-coat-section-British-style-youth-slim-coat.jpg_640x640.jpg[/thumb] Americans/maybe westerners in general consider these manly [thumb]https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/75/fc/c2/75fcc284e2736b1b2c3fa951caab7ead.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/2b/6d/4d/2b6d4d1794a9146a0c6388a0412020d1.jpg[/thumb] [editline]dsd[/editline] I don't mean to offend anyone. It's just that from personal experience I've noticed that most westerners(americans in particular) generally ridicule male people for wearing tighter/slim fitting clothes for some reason. Of course there are clothes that are meant to be worn loose but if you care about aesthetics that's usually not the case with jeans, slacks, etc. And when people in the US tell someone "hey, nice shirt" it's -usually- because of what's written/drawn on the shirt(some random reference) or the brand name rather than how the shirt looks like. Just something I've noticed. It seems to me like the average western guy(not all of them) care less about these kinds of things, and those who do are kinda ostracized in a way.

What the hell are you guys talking about, men on average very much care about their appearances in the West too, who do you think is holding up all these high fashion businesses like Rolex and the various suit companies out there?
what the hell is this [editline]aaa[/editline]

I would've agreed that men in the west care less about fitted clothes but you kinda ruined your own argument.

However, there are plenty of men who wear tight fitting clothes in the US. you can't wear tight fitting clothes if you're bigger though. It doesn't work out well

The hipster is no spray tan and frosted tips. There's certainly worse styles out there. But what is it with men's pants having the crotch so far down from the belt? Its like pant designer's expect you to wear them pulled over your navel for them to fit properly.
... men's pants having the crotch so far down from the belt? ...
You wouldn't happen to be female would you? Because then I could kinda understand asking such a thing, but if you've got the equipment I can't fathom how you don't know as to why that is. Hint: dingle-dangle wiggle room. Rather then design a bunch of different sizes they went for the broadest 1-size-fit-all and called it a day.
This is the exact same argument actual Ku Klux Klan members use for justifying the use of "nigger".
fag in general use has kinda lost its correlation with homosexuality in the sense that 98% of people who use it are not homophobes nigger is a different story honestly I think sapping the discriminatory meanings from words invented to marginalize people is great
This is the exact same argument actual Ku Klux Klan members use for justifying the use of "nigger".
I always think of it like this Homo: attracted to men, not necessarily feminine Gay/fag: feminine homo
This is the exact same argument actual Ku Klux Klan members use for justifying the use of "nigger".
The image is from a South Park episode where the characters campaign to change the definition of "fag" to anyone who is a biker. It's a joke.
I think that male fashion and grooming is becoming much bigger in the US now, especially in the younger crowds. 5 years ago, seeing a dude without an oversized tee and baggy jeans was pretty rare, but now, outfits seem to be much more cohesive and guys are getting more modern haircuts. Though, I don't think it's gaining much traction in the rural areas, unfortunately.

It's probably the hottest style west has had in recent time. It looks manly and rough while also going well with classy stuff like suits and what not.
But I don't live in China
Why do people hate on this "hipster" fad so much? It's probably the hottest style west has had in recent time. It looks manly and rough while also going well with classy stuff like suits and what not.
Because facial hair = bad no matter what
Oh yeah because y'kno there's nothing more beautiful than when a guy looks more feminine than his waifu.
Because facial hair = bad no matter what
That's like not true at all though?
Because facial hair = bad no matter what
For real? Facial hair can honestly look pretty good if it's groomed and maintained properly. I've never really understood the stigma some people seem to hold against it.
Not the ones working on the supermarket a couple of blocks away from home that's for sure. Sometimes it's hard to recognize women from men in both situations whether they look nice or not.
