Jerry Seinfeld: Political Correctness Will Destroy Comedy
Jerry Seinfeld believes political correctness has put comedy on a self-destructive path.
During a recent ESPN interview, host Colin Cowherd mentioned to Seinfeld that Chris Rock and Larry the Cable Guy intentionally don't perform at college campuses because the students are too politically correct.
"I don't play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me, 'Don't go near colleges. They're so PC,'" said Seinfeld.
He continued, "I'll give you an example: My daughter's 14. My wife says to her, 'Well, you know, in the next couple years, I think maybe you’re going to want to be hanging around the city more on the weekends, so you can see boys.' You know what my daughter says? She says, ‘That’s sexist.’"
Seinfeld said college students don't understand racism and sexism. "They just want to use these words: 'That’s racist;' 'That’s sexist;' 'That’s prejudice.' They don’t even know what the f—k they’re talking about.”
Politically incorrect comedy is best comedy anyway, I don't see an issue.
Just ask Michael Richards
Yeah, read this interesting article by this anonymous liberal professor (take that as you will) who is scared of his liberal students because of the implications of this overly PC "my feelings got hurt" culture that has popped up as of late.
This extreme PC/Liberal view seems to me to be more about feeling like you're doing good than actually doing good.
ah, Jerry Seinfeld, the head-man when it comes to comedy.

what's the deal with social justice??
Not just him. Chris Rock and others have said the same thing.
I think they are kinda right and wrong at the same time. Yeah, it'll kill traditional comedy -the type comedians of their generation created- but at the same time it'll give rise to an alternative form of comic. See Amy Schumer for example. Or Aziz Ansari. Not quite the same as Seinfeld or Pryor or Louis C.K., but still funny to a wide range of people.
Never really been a big fan of his comedy work, but he is right.
B-but making fun of minorities is all I know :c
old white man upset he's not allowed to say racist shit anymore. more at 12
The new 'edgy' comedy is making fun of religious (as long as they're not Muslim) and conservative people. PC warriors are fine with that.
Ironically, I just youtubed Amy Schumer, and the first set of jokes ended with abortion.
The overzealous kind of PC, for sure. But that's just as bad as the opposite.

thanks for proving his point

Did you just quote Aziz Ansari as an example of a PC comedian
I think it's sad. Jerry's right; people throw those '-isms'/'-ists' around all the fucking time now, it's like people can't laugh at themselves anymore
ah, Jerry Seinfeld, the head-man when it comes to comedy.
Uh, he actually is realistically speaking.
I don't think he's the funniest guy, but realisitically, he is the leading person to talk about comedy because he's made more money doing it than anyone and has a very wide appeal to non niche audiences.
He's also friends with almost every comedian there is and just simply admires the craft in a way few people do.
Say what you will, but you're not going to be convincing.
How Can Political Correctness Be Real If Our Politics Aren't Real?

I only quoted him because he's doing extraordinarily well right now, and if what Seinfeld said is accurate, that shouldn't be possible unless Aziz is PC.

and here it is ladies and gentleman, the problem in the flesh

Aziz is a person of colour so he gets a pass from a lot of the super progressives.
When it's come to the day that comedians can't crack jokes in fear of their jobs, you know political correctness has gone way too far.

Everyone should have the right to be made fun off.

Can you post something racist he's said, I'm interested because you seem to be an expert on the subject.

He's a Jew you racist.
Everyone should have the right to be made fun off.
I'm a firm believer of the mindset that you shouldn't dictate fun if you can't mock your own flaws in a hilarious fashion.
The Political Correct people are incapable of just that

Old white man with massive amounts of experience in comedy as well as making more money than anyone else in the field, who also has never used racism as a part of his gig noticing a trend of both destructive and ignorant political correctness in college and youth groups, cites both other comedians and anecdotal evidence, more at 11.

Jerry Seinfeld. Racist.
Wow.
I can see maybe Larry David as he was a provocateur, but Seinfeld?
Mainstream comedy is less politically correct than it's ever been, this is just a bunch of baseless scaremongering.
So he's never been to one, but he's heard about it so hard he takes a hardline stance about it? Alright. Alright.
Maybe comedians just don't have the balls to face them and make their stances heard in comedy clubs anymore? I don't know, I live in America's 51st state and I haven't seen a huge problem with racist-joke comedians. There was a big stink about it, but most people seem to agree there isn't really a problem when you're selling yourself as a comedian.
