• 'Get Windows 10' Update Turns Itself On and Nags Win 7 and 8.1 Users Twice a Day
According to a report by Woody Leonhard at InfoWorld, the newest version of the KB3035583 update includes a background process which scans the system's Windows Registry twice a day to see if the values for the four aforementioned registry inputs were manually edited to disable the upgrade prompt. If they were, the process will alter the values, silently re-download the Windows 10 installation files (about 6 GB in total), and prompt the user to upgrade. besides the rare driver issues one encounters when they upgrade to win 10, why do people not want to upgrade? honestly don't really see a reason.
If people simply don't want win 10, they really need to fuck off and stop shoving "upgrade now!!" in their faces.
This seems more persistent than most malware
besides the rare driver issues one encounters when they upgrade to win 10, why do people not want to upgrade?
I simply don't want it, I'm happy with W7 and I shouldn't have that fucking GET IT NOW popup window jammed in my face all the fucking time.
I simply found the GWX.exe, gave myself full "permissions" over it and deleted the file. I haven't seen it pop up since. And, this was a couple weeks after all this started.
besides the rare driver issues one encounters when they upgrade to win 10, why do people not want to upgrade? honestly don't really see a reason.
Windows 10 did fuck up a few very specific things for me. It was a bit more than just a few "rare driver issues" I am glad I made the switch however
If people simply don't want win 10, they really need to fuck off and stop shoving "upgrade now!!" in their faces.
MS can't really tell who does and doesn't want the upgrade, they aren't mind readers. A lot of Windows users aren't exactly computer literate enough to hunt this stuff down themselves. So telling them "hey this thing is here, want it?" is the easiest way to scoop up future security problems from that portion of the user base. They could probably put an opt-out in this, but you'd still have to be exposed to it at least once to actually opt-out. And going by the reactions some silly bastards have to these things, one time is too many times for their precious eyes.

Not to mention it scans through your documents for "illegal stuff" and will silently uninstall software it deems illegal or pirated without your consent. Windows 10 has turned out to be an ad-riddled NSA honeypot that will always datamine you whether you want it to or not. Windows 8.1 with start8 is the last good version tbh.
Still don't see anything like it. Don't think my parents' computer has it either since Windows 10 was never brought up to me.
Well that (maybe) explains why the Windows 10 option was ticked whenever I do Windows Update. Gee, I get that they're trying to avoid another Windows XP situation, but this is NOT how to do it. I can't upgrade due to compatibility issues (I tried it already).
i recently bought a new PC (prebuilt scrum represent) and paid a lil extra specifically for w8.1 which i had no problem with whatsoever, and i've ended up really enjoying it's interface, so i think it's fairly reasonable to expect to carry on using this product that i both used and paid for in the state i already appreciate it for, regardless of some "upgrade" that i don't necessarily need or want
besides the rare driver issues one encounters when they upgrade to win 10, why do people not want to upgrade? honestly don't really see a reason.
I would love to upgrade my laptop, but I can't right now. Every time I try to install it, I get at least 1 seemingly random driver failure. First it was the graphics drivers, (would only output low resolution), then it was the network drivers, then it was the laptop not being able to shutdown.

Thank god I switched to Linux. Using Debian/Linux and not looked back since.
i like how many people here actually think win10 spies on you and uploads all of your documents and also how many people who are hypocritical and blame people on winxp but themselves won't update to win10

win10 will never get better compatibility if people consistently avoid it

Slightly bullshit title: it was already "on" since May 2015 or so. However yeah, it's becoming a LOT more invasive by the day.

[editline]12th January 2016[/editline] Hell the article itself doesn't even mention it scans your documents lol stop trying to stir up shit
I can't upgrade, the app itself told me my card can't support it when I tried. I also can't upgrade cards because i have a cheap frame. It's still telling me to, though.
source?
Already posted the source for uninstalling pirated software. Here's the source for scanning through your documents. Also on my older Windows 8.1 desktop, it drove into lot of issues to the point it stopped trusting it's own Windows Update. Popping up an UAC prompt every time the system runs it. Delightfully ironic considering the Windows 10 drama. :v:
