President-elect Donald Trump, flanked by his wife, Melania, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Ky., gives a thumbs-up on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, after their meeting. (Photo: Molly Riley/AP) The election of Donald Trump as president is a bitter pill to swallow for millions of Americans — and some are backing a quixotic campaign to reverse that outcome. As of Friday afternoon, more than 2.4 million people had signed a petition to the U.S. Electoral College, urging its members to ignore their states’ votes and cast their ballots for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. “Mr. Trump is unfit to serve. His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted history of sexual assault, and utter lack of experience make him a danger to the Republic,” wrote Elijah Berg, who launched the petition on Change.org.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/millions-sign-petition-urging-electoral-college-to-elect-hillary-clinton-175038196.html
Give it up you lost. lol Try again in four years.
But Clinton already conceded? Even if they voted her in, could she still accept?
Give it up you lost. lol Try again in four years.
There's a difference between being a sore loser and fearing for your life.
Fucking hell people, Put this effort into fixing the DNC. Having a Bernie Sanders or a copy of him running for 2020 and fixing Trump's possibly shitty policies is much more better than Hillary.
But Clinton already conceded? Even if they voted her in, could she still accept?
Yah
There's a difference between being a sore loser and fearing for your life.
More like fearmongering. The sky isn't going to fall on these people because Trump is going to the white house. This is like when people threatened to leave Alberta when an NDP government was elected in.
Give it up you lost. lol Try again in four years.
I don't think there's anything wrong in a petition like this, or peacefully protesting or even complaining at all.
But Clinton already conceded? Even if they voted her in, could she still accept?
Yes. Concession is not a legally binding act. It's formality and a show of good sportsmanship. She can still accept the presidency if the electoral college gives her the majority.

She lost. The DNC didn't nominate Sanders, as it was Clinton's turn to win the primaries from the start. Stop crying, dry your damn eyes, and turn them towards 2018 and 2020.
I see nothing wrong with this petition. I mean if it goes somewhere, it goes somewhere, and if it doesn't, it doesn't. This is a decent form of peaceful protest. He's already making steps towards the middle, with the statement on Muslims removed from his website and making deals on the ACA. The Trump we saw during the primaries will be different from the one that's President.

By "You", I meant the DNC.
This would be probably the quickest way to have SHTF. Seriously, I don't think the electorates want to be lynched for pissing off the people they are meant to represent.
This man literally threatened to violate the geneva convention.
Not trying to sound like I'm shitposting or trying to be funny but I was not aware the United States was already in compliance. I might be mixing that up with the use of landmines.

I get what you're saying but it doesn't invalidate anyones concerns.
How about instead of criticizing an institute which had worked fine for a large chunk of American history, you go and get the DNC to acquire better candidates so the choice wouldn't be so razer thin. Sanders probably could have beaten Trump. (There are arguments against the electoral college but if your candidate was truly great it wouldn't of mattered.)

We got rid of it in the '90s.
Presidential elections would use a system of ballotage, and the president could only be re-elected once. The electoral college was abolished, replaced by direct elections.
What if Trump actually goes through and abolishes electoral college, would that calm them down?

quote from the article
First, the founding fathers intended the Electoral College to serve as a buffer between the electorate and the presidency. They feared that a tyrant or someone incompetent would be able to manipulate the population and that better-informed, judicious electors could prevent this from happening. In other words, the Electoral College is supposed to act as a check on the citizenry, should it be hoodwinked by a demagogue.
interesting
So to you it's just another drop in the ocean and therefor it doesn't matter? I get what you're saying but it doesn't invalidate anyones concerns.
I lived through the reign of Stephen Harper for a decade. They are going to get trump for four years tops. Sit down, buckle up and hold on.
Sanders probably could have beaten Trump.
I would of bet my account on this election if it was Sanders Vs. Trump because I would of assured you Sanders would of won.
I don't think there's anything wrong in a petition like this, or peacefully protesting or even complaining at all.
Yes there is actually a reason why this is wrong: Hillary.
There's a difference between being a sore loser and fearing for your life.
To all the idiots in this section that think Trump is fueling trains to haul you all away on January 20th can you all please toxxx yourself that if you aren't dead in a gulag 4 years from now that you'll be perma'd? Thanks.
But Clinton already conceded? Even if they voted her in, could she still accept?
The Government has yet to implement the "No Baksies" rule.
Yes there is actually a reason why this is wrong: Hillary.
Elaborate?
We got rid of it in the '90s. Only through a constitutional amendment can it be removed. The president has zero say in the process and is done completely seperately of the executive branch.
Don't petition for a redo or for the electoral college to elect Hillary. Petition for the abolishment of an electoral college.
