Here's the full list: Best Motion Picture of the Year Nominees: 127 timer (2010)
:wtc:
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role Nominees: Christian Bale for The Fighter (2010)
[editline]25th January 2011[/editline] wow, FIRST oscar nomination for BALE... hell yeah. At long fucking last.
Pretty much everyone had been predicting Nolan would get a best director nomination, especially since he got a nomination at every other awards event. I knew he'd get left off, though. Good old academy. Couldn't care less about this years show, except for Bale's nomination since he's most likely going to win and it'll be cool to see him win.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role Nominees: Hailee Steinfeld for True Grit (2010)
Wasn't she the only woman in True Grit? How is she a supporting role? Wasn't she the main protagonist? The Academy has their head on backwards.
Sorry, copied from IMDb, and then noticed everything was translated to Norwegian :smith: Fixed now.
Wasn't she the main protagonist? The Academy has their head on backwards.
Yep. Supporting role? What schmucks.
Wasn't she the only woman in True Grit?
I don't think that really matters. You can still be the only woman in the film and not be one of the lead characters.
Yep. Supporting role? What schmucks. I don't think that really matters. You can still be the only woman in the film and not be one of the lead characters.
Irrelevant, considering that the entire movie was about her, and she was in every scene, and she was the narrator, and she closed out the movie.
I was even kind of peeved at the Coens for billing Bridges, Damon, and Brolin before her. [sp]Brolin was barely in a quarter of the entire film[/sp]
Lets see, Social Network for Picture and Toy Story 3 for Animated. Hope Iron Man 2 gets Visual. Have always love the work they did on the suits.
Toy Story 3's pretty much already won Best Animated
Perhaps Best Picture this time round? Nothing since Beauty and the Beast managed to pull that off! :v:
The industry is a stupid, greedy, cannibalistic gaggle of sleazy executives. I hope you all realize that this extends into the awards. The whole thing is a farcical show put on by a bunch of senile old men. It doesn't mean anything. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
Toy Story 3's pretty much already won Best Animated
Nope. It's gonna be Dragon. Toy Story 3 was too much of a retread of 2, and the people in the academy are tired enough of Pixar winning every year. Dragon is good enough to beat it.
Going to be a very tough call for best film.
Perhaps Best Picture this time round? Nothing since Beauty and the Beast managed to pull that off! :v:
Yeah, and soon Japan will be taken seriously. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline] I don't see why Alice in Wonderland is up for visuals. The thing was an ugly mess.
Nope. It's gonna be Dragon. Toy Story 3 was too much of a retread of 2, and the people in the academy are tired enough of Pixar winning every year. Dragon is good enough to beat it.
Dragon was good but it wasn't nearly as good as Toy Story 3. There's a reason Pixar wins these things.
Natalie Portman is going to win best actress. Absolutely everyone is focused on her. The girl from Winter's Bone was better. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
Dragon was good but it wasn't nearly as good as Toy Story 3. There's a reason Pixar wins these things.
There was. There's a reason that they made a Toy Story 3, and it wasn't because they wanted to continue the toy mythos. The answer to that is the same reason why they're going to fail. It's also the reason they've established a studio dedicated to making sequels. Regardless, it wasn't good enough. Dragon has Katzenburg behind it, and considering the fact that the academy is already, as I've previously explained, tired of Pixar winning every year, it's a sure bet they're going to win.
Irrelevant, considering that the entire movie was about her, and she was in every scene, and she was the narrator, and she closed out the movie.
No shit? Why are you telling me this, tell it to the academy [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
Nope. It's gonna be Dragon. Toy Story 3 was too much of a retread of 2, and the people in the academy are tired enough of Pixar winning every year. Dragon is good enough to beat it.
haha not a chance. It'd be nice but it won't happen.
No shit? Tell it to the academy [editline]25th January 2011[/editline] haha not a chance. It'd be nice but it won't happen.
I would, but I'd probably get farther with a very stubborn brick wall. Don't have to believe me if you don't want to. Realize that in these awards politics are just as important as quality. If not more so.
Inception & Nolan will be robbed of everything once again.
Star Wars didn't ruin Miss Portman's career after all! Yippe!
Inception & Nolan will be robbed of everything once again.
I wouldn't count out Nolan. Inception probably won't get much though. Bigger things to be upset about though.
Best Picture will most likely be "The Social Network". It's winning everything else.
But is it worthy? [editline]25th January 2011[/editline] I haven't seen it, but were people moved by it?
But is it worthy? [editline]25th January 2011[/editline] I haven't seen it, but were people moved by it?
It was good, if that's what you're saying.
My uneducated predictions: Best Motion Picture of the Year The Social Network (2010) Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role Jesse Eisenberg for The Social Network (2010) Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Natalie Portman for Black Swan (2010) Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role Christian Bale for The Fighter (2010) Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role Helena Bonham Carter for The King's Speech (2010) Best Achievement in Directing David Fincher for The Social Network (2010) Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen Inception (2010): Christopher Nolan- HE BETTER FUCKING WIN THIS Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published The Social Network (2010): Aaron Sorkin Best Animated Feature Film of the Year Toy Story 3 (2010): Lee Unkrich Best Achievement in Cinematography Inception (2010): Wally Pfister - Hallway scene should seriously have this won for them Best Achievement in Editing Black Swan (2010): Andrew Weisblum Best Achievement in Art Direction Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010): Stuart Craig, Stephenie McMillan Best Achievement in Costume Design Alice in Wonderland (2010): Colleen Atwood Best Achievement in Makeup The Way Back (2010): Edouard F. Henriques, Greg Funk, Yolanda Toussieng Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score The Social Network (2010): Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross - Even though I want Hans Zimmer to take it out Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song Toy Story 3 (2010): Randy Newman("We Belong Together") Best Achievement in Sound Mixing The Social Network (2010) Best Achievement in Sound Editing TRON: Legacy (2010) Best Achievement in Visual Effects Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010) or Inception (2010) Best Documentary, Features Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010): Banksy [editline]26th January 2011[/editline]
I wouldn't count out Nolan. Inception probably won't get much though. Bigger things to be upset about though.
I think I'm so passionate about Inception winning stuff because I did my last ever assignment on it at school before I graduated. It was why Inception subverts the genre it's in. I basically went through everything I could find about Inception and grew to love it the more I knew about it and the crew and effort involved in making it.
But is it worthy? [editline]25th January 2011[/editline] I haven't seen it, but were people moved by it?
Moved? As in brought to tears? Nah, it's not that kind of film.
Moved? As in brought to tears?
Not what I meant at all. Moved as in provided a thrill to your inner self. You have to know what that means. :smug: I was moved by 127 hours but I wasn't crying. I wasn't sad at all, he sliced his arm off and survived, good for him. The Hurt Locker was also moving.
Inception should get visual effects simply for the corridor scene, and that didn't have any visual effects.
Not what I meant at all. Moved as in provided a thrill to your inner self. You have to know what that means. :smug: I was moved by 127 hours but I wasn't crying. Sure, it did make me wonder if what Mark did to his friend was out of revenge or petty jealously. The movie satisfied me, that's all.
Moved? As in brought to tears? Nah, it's not that kind of film.
It moved me to think Mark Zuckerberg is a douche.
Thought provoking?
Again.. no.
