I'm actually not just spewing nonsense (as much as I love doing that). Take a look at this article:
http://jalopnik.com/5832610/only-by-the-grace-of-the-gays-will-a-car-succeed
tl;dr - It's an article about how lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transvestites (LGBT's) choose cars as opposed to straight people. They also got some numbers on what LGBT's prefer in a car and what car's they like the most.
It's best summed up in this picture:

That's right, LBGT's are 288% more likely to buy a Kia Forte than straight people are. There are also a lot of other familiar names in this list.
strait
TBH, I don't know why you'd buy the Sedan. The Koup is quite nice looking, but the sedan doesn't have many features. You're better off getting an Elantra or Civic or something.
Just by visual aspects, I'd consider something like the Golf or Civic (sedan) to be cars that appeal to that demographic.
Hyundai has a better line up in my opinion, even though Kia is owned partially by Hyundai
I just don't like the cars Kia has
Quite interesting that the only US manufactured car on the list is the Chevrolet Traverse.

Because American cars are manly.

c'mon mini cooper isn't that gay
the original one is awesome but the newer ones are gay as shit
Get a CRZ, drop a K motor in it and call it a day.
So uhh, my favorite car is a 2001 Jetta.
My friends told me I should go get one and shave my legs in it, since apparently shaving my legs once means I do it all the time.
Why does it even matter what cars LGBT prefer over straight people anyway? Except for useful information to manufacturers making ads, it doesn't really.

it's probably because supposedly most jetta owners are girls, but honestly who gives a fuck. only shallow people are going to say homophobic, sexist, etc. shit like that.

Pretty much. And besides, Jetta is the greatest car ever invented and Volkswagen is the only brand I really want to buy from.
Well, in my opinion.

Why do you think the Jetta is the greatest car ever invented? It's quite an ordinary small upscale sedan.

The list is referring to the new Jetta (MKVI), an '01 would be a MKIV. If you want one though make sure you get a Haynes manual with it, you're going to be a fully qualified VW mechanic in no time if you want to keep it running on the cheap. You'll also want to bookmark the MKIV forums on VWVortex for the good DIY tutorials. I have a '00 MKIV and I can't say its been the most reliable or affordable car but if you're willing to learn and get out of your usual DIY comfort zone it can be very rewarding.
