Mr Stadnyk was briefly named by Guinness World Records as the planet's tallest man in 2007, but refused to be measured by the organisation and the title was handed back to China's Bao Xishun, who stands 2.36m tall. The title now rests with 31-year-old Turkish farmer Sultan Kosen, who stands at 2.51m (8 feet, 3 inches).

The reclusive giant said he made a conscious decision not to be measured officially because he wanted to be left in peace.

His health deteriorated as he found it increasingly difficult to walk and was forced to quit his job as a veterinarian, turning instead to gardening and tending after his mother's livestock.
http://abc.net.au/news/2014-08-26/former-worlds-tallest-man-leonid-stadnyk-dies-brain-haemorrhage/5696162
I wonder how big his dick was.
The strain on his cardiovascular system must have been immense.

smart decision, one i can really respect.
cerebral haemorrhage
That sounds really nasty Poor guy
Did he get hit in the head? Or... did he just walk into too many doorway frames?
I wonder how big his dick was.
This is what they asked when wadlow died.

His shirt reads H for HUGE
Damn, his hands are twice the size of the other guy's.
The guy seems like quite the gentle giant. Impressive that humans can in fact grow to such size. I wonder what genes were responsible for that growth hormone gland? It is sad that he passed so young, possibly due to his condition, but learning the secrets of what made him a giant could give quite the insight into how people would come to possess such a gland, and maybe even how to grow them to benefit humanty. Either way, being so huge seems pretty cool, even if you need a custom tailor and may have certain other complications.

The cancerous tumor just made the gland secrete more GH than normal. Everybody secretes a little more or less GH.
the mountain that bikes. sad though, i read somewhere about one guy in turkey (not sure if it's the one that is now the worlds tallest man) who's parents purposefully didn't have the tumor that caused his growth removed so that he would become giant & therefore make money thru i dunno freakshows or whatever
He was a veterinarian? I bet even bigger animals were no problem to him. "I'll... I'll hold him down for you" "NO NEED TO LITTLE MAN"
You have absolutely no idea what are you talking about, being tall is not all that cool (and I'm just 1.90) Poor guy simply wouldn't fit in 99% of the doorways. Then all the everyday problems like getting clothes, human relations etc
Not to mention most people that tall are just simply too tall to operate cars.
His health deteriorated as he found it increasingly difficult to walk and was forced to quit his job as a veterinarian, turning instead to gardening and tending after his mother's livestock.
A gentle giant.
He looks like a really genuinely nice guy.
He looks like a really genuinely nice guy.
Well and he was a Vet, must have been a fairly bright bloke.
I wonder how much he weighs.
I wonder how much he weighs.
According to Wikipedia he weighed 200kg / 440lbs
