Oldschool detroit workings for those who enjoy a small dose of history. No GTO here, sorry. First vid talks about air resistance and such. Smart for back in the day. The second one just shows off the car. WARNING: Women's ankles are fully exposed at 8:18 in the second vid. I apologise for this. Please do not behead me, I did not make the video. Now there's some damn nice cars. I'd take either one over anything on a new car lot every time.
If we're doing some old-school car stuff, I think some of the old Mercedes invention-tests are pretty fun to watch. that is indeed a jet engine strapped to it at 0:15. At 0:25, that's the first car with collision zones. Same with airbag, all of that stuff was new and hadn't been tested before, which makes it fascinating to watch.
Since we're gonna post old crash tests, here's one of a VB Commodore - the car that lead to what Americans know as the (new) Pontiac GTO. Apparently it had the driveshaft removed, as well as 300kg in weight in the boot.
actually i just was at an old packard museum yesterday, they made good stuff too, plus i saw this [t]http://blog.hemmings.com/wp-content/uploads//2012/10/1958Packardbaker_01_700.jpg[/t] the last packard, in 1956 the joint packard-studabaker company decided to make studabakers instead of these type of cars, too bad because this car made only a small run but would have definatly gone against the t-bird and jags if it had come out in 1956 when it was intended [editline]14th April 2013[/editline] its rather amazing what engineering went into some of these things back then, the packard-merlin engine (their production version of the merlin) the supercharger was bolted togather in like 500 places just to prevent it from flying appart
