KSAT12 has made the editorial decision to freeze the video right before the shooting occurs that leads to the death of the suspect. The video above shows the moments leading up to the fatal shots and stops just before the shots were fired. The sound from the recording continues over the freeze frame. The video was obtained from Michael Thomas, who witnessed the shooting and contacted KSAT12.
Oh shit obligatory this is my city post, it feels odd to have this occur so close after hearing about it in the news so often, as well as hearing about it on facepunch first. Damn the video is pretty fucked, it looked like a clear surrender. Shame this guy had to lose his life...
I passed by this area earlier today (after the shooting, I think), wondering what the commotion was. Looks like the guy was surrendering, wonder if there was any reason for the shooting which isn't clear in the video.
Quality cell phone video from half a mile away with a pole blocking the person's other arm, that isn't even complete because they decided seeing the actual shooting would be too disturbing. Yea, I think I'll wait to pass judgement. Though, I will say, "well, they tried tasers first and that didn't work" isn't a valid reason for shooting a person who isn't an immediate threat so I don't know why they mentioned that in their press conference.

You can clearly see both his arms in the freeze frame of the second video in the source.
Oh fuck. My uncle is a veteran sheriff. I swear to God if he's in this video... [editline]1st September 2015[/editline]
Oh fuck. My uncle is a veteran sheriff. I swear to God if he's in this video...
Turns out I am not related to a killer cop. Thanks, Facepunch.

I'll wait for the full investigation before passing judgement. Though I do have to say, it looks shady.
Were the shots fired immediately after he put his hand(s) up and after the video froze? Like, the audio keeps playing as if the video never froze? Because it sure would seem like someone got killed for practically nothing, once again. As to what occurred before his shooting, like the background info received from the dispatcher or the unsuccessful attempts to use non-lethal force, I do not know if any of the prior events justified the killing of this man.
2015 is a bad year to be an uppity prole, apparently.
You'd think Police would show more restraint with how much the media is paying attention to them
