Total War publisher Sega has announced Total War: Rome II for launch next year. The PC game, sequel to the lauded 2004 strategy title Rome: Total War, remains in the hands of The Creative Assembly.Et II, Brute?
Sega's announcement promises the series' signature mix of real-time and turn-based action in Ancient Rome, with "tens of thousands" of troops clashing in "bone-splintering detail" as you helm the vast war machine of the world's first superpower. There's a new graphics engine crunching the numbers, and new unit cameras to let you see the battlefield from every perspective.
The first couple of screenshots of the game respectively reveal a large-scale naval invasion and swarms of soldiers in a detailed, smouldering cityscape. We spy a squad of battle elephants on the far left of the latter.
The Total War series last brought us its brand of historical fracas with Total War: Shogun 2 in March 2011 and that game's Fall of the Samuraistandalone expansion in March this year.
Wait, where in the article is space exploration mentioned?
I never tried Total War games properly until Shogun 2, it's now one of my favorite game series. Cant wait for this.

Go back and play Rome and Medieval 2, they are still awesome games after all these years.
I wish they made a Total War on World War I-Cold War,that would be fucking sick.

trench warfare doesn't fit TW's battle style same can be said for CW but one based in the late 1800's like FotS could work
Bad ass. I adore the total war games, especially Medieval 2 - I've pumped hundreds of hours into it and its expansion packs. Rome comes at a close second however.
I'm jizzing all over the place holy fuck fuck
Those graphics, this enhanced scale, hopefuly enhanced gameplay mechanics... all I need now is them to announce they fixed pathfinding issues in the previous games and it's definitly going to be day one.

The picture in OP
Finally, the best game in the series gets renewed and refreshed! I've been anticipating Rome II for years, and I've been so disappointed each time they announced some empire or shogun shit instead. But on the bright side, now Rome gets all the fancy new technology and a better overall design as they've learned from all previous experiences.
I hope this will be the best game they have made since Medieval 2.
Hope they can somehow do the Jewish Rebellions if the timeline goes that far. Would be epic to take down the Third Temple.
I must say I greatly dislike the graybrown colour pallet introduced somewhere around napoleon total war and it was my biggest problem with shogun 2. The real time battles where a confusing sea of different shades of gray which made keeping on top of the happenings of the battle was just overly tedious compared to the comparatively colorful and well contrasted look of rome, medieval 2 and empire.
Still I can't help but to be super excited, rome is my second favorite for the simple reason that medieval 2 was just such a more polished experience.
This is awesome, I hope they add more playable factions. I always wanted to play as the Spanish in the original game.
OH MY GOD YES
I wish Company of Heroes 2 had the political TBS stuff of total war D:
AFter 3 shit games in a row they really don't have a choice but to make rome 2
I'm really excited, Rome was easily my favourite from the Total War series. I am hoping that they bring back the old system of reinforcements and the ability to make AI controlled groups. I haven't liked any of the games after Medieval 2 due to this.
I hope they make a game called 'Total War' one of these days.
With every unit from every timeline through from the stoneage to the far future.
Kinda like Civ but with better battles.
I remember playing Rome when I was younger and not knowing what the fuck I was doing and going bankrupt on the 5th turn.
I cannot wait :D

Shogun 2 is the best in the series so far, shut the fuck up.
I've haven't really played these kind of games much, aside from the odd hour or two of starcraft and a bit of Red Alert when I was around 8.
Could anyone please recommend a game/series which could get me in to this genre?
