[release]Jerry Robinson, a pioneer of the comics form best known by fans for creating the Joker but also praised for his work as a comics historian and creator rights advocate, has died at age 89. At only 17 years of age, the aspiring artist was hired as an inker by Batman creator Bob Kane, and over the next several years, Robinson offered as much visual input into the character's world and cast as his originator. Robinson co-created Robin, the Boy Wonder and is often credited as the primary influence for arch-villain the Joker, though Kane and Robinson would clash over credit for the villain's creation in later years. The artist was soon hired away from Kane's shop by "Batman" publisher DC/National Comics, for which he served as a staff artist, drawing many of the most striking covers of comics Golden Age. Robinson became a key figure along with artist Neal Adams in the fight to get Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster proper credit and pay for their hero from DC Comics. Robinson himself saw the benefits of a corporate culture at DC and Warner Bros. become arguably more appreciative of its original creatives in recent years as he served as a paid creative consultant for the company on projects including Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" which drew heavily on Robinson's original stories in its portrayal of the Joker. that's so sad, i cant imagine how much money would be transferred through his will
I seriously see no humor in this
The man had considerable amounts of influence on Batman(and superhero fiction in general) comics as we know them, from being the co-creator of Robin and the Joker, to having his fingers in the creation of Alfred and Two-face. That's not even getting into his support of creator rights and the struggle for creator recognition and compensation. So yeah, Jerry Robinson's passing is kind of a big deal if you're a comic book fan. RIP. [editline]8th December 2011[/editline] Also, he did the lettering for this beauty, which may very well be his greatest contribution to the medium.
He is the hero the afterlife deserves

It's fine he'll be back in a few weeks from another dimension or the future or something, just like in the comics.

So the voice of the Joker is retiring, and the creator of the Joker is dead. The Joker we know and love is no more.
So the voice of the Joker is retiring, and the creator of the Joker is dead. The Joker we know and love is no more.
He's said it 5 or 6 times before. And he said he might not be retiring, recently.

I don't see why its so sad when someone dies at a 89. I mean he lived a good long life, shouldn't people celebrate the life he lived instead of grieving when someone dies at an age they are supposed to die?
So the voice of the Joker is retiring, and the creator of the Joker is dead. The Joker we know and love is no more.
And heath ledger is dead
And heath ledger is dead
Jokers always die in threes
The title made it seem like this icon died
And heath ledger is dead
To be fair, Heath Ledger was dead before he was the Joker to most people. Personally I wasn't a big fan of his Joker. It's a shame he died though.
