Source: http://www.wsj.com/articles/youtube-says-t-mobile-is-throttling-its-video-traffic-1450821730
T-Mobile recently began offering a program that delivers video at lower quality in exchange for waiving related data fees. In a less-noticed move, T-Mobile is also lowering the quality of video that isn’t part of the program, such as YouTube. YouTube, which is owned by Alphabet Inc., said T-Mobile is effectively throttling, or degrading, its traffic. “Reducing data charges can be good for users, but it doesn’t justify throttling all video services, especially without explicit user consent,” a YouTube spokesman said. The Federal Communications Commission’s net-neutrality rules, adopted in February, are designed to ensure that Internet providers don’t discriminate against traffic from particular sources, including throttling a class of applications.
More info in Source EDIT: sorry, didnt know wsj had some paywall thing heres an archive https://archive.is/vGMMI
They were hoping that Net Neutrality was suspended in the spending bill weren't they?
I've noticed this, it's basically impossible to watch 1080p videos now. I'm on the unlimited plan which shouldn't need any of the low quality adjustment unlimited data stuff but I can definitely confirm it is messing with mine too. It's been going on for a long while actually.

get shafted t-mobile
Shame, t-mobile is usually one of the most customer-friendly carriers out there. It is still a business though
Well then.. Google should just block everyone using T-mobile's service and we can quickly see who's the bigger boss once t-mobile's customerbase drops 20%

I have unlimited data for $20 a month on my line instead of the former $30 and now $45 plan. I'm really not interested in pushing my luck trying to get stuff turned off. Although, I don't think I'm on the data plan which has Data Stash/Binge On anyways. It's pretty scummy but I can't really complain because at the data levels I often use I'd be paying other companies upto $1000 a month in overages not to mention the 105mbps down I get on T-Mobile's LTE.

It actually really helped, I can watch high quality video again.

I couldn't watch a video in over 240p today, it literally just wouldn't load. Yep, gonna have to call.
1.Log in to your T-Mobile account online. 2.In the upper-right corner, click Profile. 3.In the right-hand panel, click Media Settings. 4.Disable the “Binge On” toggle. [editline]23rd December 2015[/editline] I was able to find it and turn it off. Works wonders
