So I found this guy, And I have one question. Is this guy faking it?

I'm asking that because at 0:17, there's some ambient noise in the background of the music that i can't see him playing.
Also at 0:17 you can clearly hear one double beat which he doesn't hit in the video.
There's also that one guitar sound at the very end when he flail his arm to end the video. And there's probably more. But I haven't checked yet.
I really want to like this video, but searching youtube comments for answers is like searching through shit for gold..
There are a lot of Launchpad live performers and while I guess these videos could have been recorded beforehand and I can't really tell you whether these videos are being faked or whatever, I can tell you that doing something like this live is very possible with a Launchpad.
I recently bought one of their products (a Launchkey actually), and depending on the DAW you use there's really no limit to the extent that you can prepare to do a performance. You can make the DAW do a lot of the work for you, if you want it to.
They're not faking it there's just a lot of added effects and samples which aren't apparent in a single key press, launchpads look impressive because of the amount of added stuff on top of it compared to a traditional instrument, but it's usually performed live.

Same goes here.
They've usually hand mapped the entire song themselves so seemingly random key presses will have been committed to muscle memory way in advance, they can also switch up what samples are on the board at any given moment as well.
It's not that different from playing the piano when you really think about it, except you're playing samples instead of notes and you get all the benefits of a keyboard that can be configured in virtually any way you can think of
In reality it looks a lot more impressive than it really is (not to say it doesn't take skill) because it's half live music mixing and half putting up a visual show while you're doing it
I always liked this one because it doesn't have a lot of added visual effects and you can tell what each key press does if you pay attention

That's an -ancient- cover, which unless he cut it up, yeah he was faking it. Madeon's legit though.

This video is such a good example of how much of it is the performance. This video is the same as OP he just didn't play it up with crazy lights and whatnot.
The guy didnt play the jingles in the background at about 1:50. It's fake. And it's really not a cover, this song is old as all hell and he changed absolutely nothing in it.
and 2:28... It's obvious its fake, or just maybe cut up, neither of which are impressive.
I liked this one
