Starting Feb. 17, people will be able to pre-register for Miitomo by signing up for the new Nintendo Account service using their existing email, social media accounts or current Nintendo Network IDs. People who pre-register will be among the first to be notified about the availability of Miitomo when it launches in March. Nintendo will offer a special Miitomo bonus to anyone who signs up for a Nintendo Account between Feb. 17 and launch.

Launching alongside Miitomo in March, My Nintendo aims to become much more than a traditional rewards program. It is a more comprehensive service that rewards users for interacting with Nintendo products and services in a variety of ways. Miitomo users with a Nintendo Account will be able to take advantage of My Nintendo to enhance their experience.
Source. More info can be found here and here. I am surprised they didn't save the My Nintendo part of the account system until the launch of the NX.
Looking forward to it!
Saw it earlier today, I love the idea of getting digital rewards just by playing games or doing Nintendo-related things. Game discounts instead of random Nintendo tat is also nice.
So is this the new Club Nintendo?
So is this the new Club Nintendo?
yes
Guess there will be a Nintendo Direct soon. With this coming up Id be suprised if there wasnt one.
I'm worried about what this will do to the recently growing 3ds homebrew community.
it wont do anything because most people who hacked their 3ds disabled their internet
it wont do anything because most people who hacked their 3ds disabled their internet
Another option is to use NAND emulation, which lets you use the old hackable system while running the newest firmware off the SD card. (I haven't tried this myself because I only have a 4GB SD card which is already filled with normal software.)
I assume that can't be done without a proper kernel exploit correct? i'm running youtubehax
Its actually rather easy. provided you haven't updated from 10.3, I'm Wery about posting info about it, but a quick google search and scouring GBAtemp should find you with guides and shit needed to get started.
Sounds neat.
Does this mean that games will finally be connected to your account rather than the system itself? That's the main thing that's putting me off on buying the new 3DS. I know they have that transfer cable thing, but I've heard from some people that some data didn't transfer over properly.
They changed/fixed that a while ago. Games you buy are attached to your account. When I upgraded from a 3DS to. N3DS I was able to log into my account and redownload all my games after formatting the old system. [editline]4th February 2016[/editline] The cable/wifi/PC transfers have to do with your saves since Nintendo doesn't have a cloud system for that kind of stuff.

(The shadier guides aren't on the homebrew wiki of course, but it has the info you need to get started.)
it wont do anything because most people who hacked their 3ds disabled their internet
Actually, With emulated custom firmware, you can update with no consequences. And if nintendo ever develops a means to hide a killswitch in an update, it only hurts your emulated sysnand. Just replace it and you're good again. And nintendo can't differentiate yet between a pirated .cia file and a legitimately bought .cia file from the 3ds shop, so most people are able to just update regardless. I'm guessing this update will change that. And will possibly interfere with homebrew.

Oh god, that custom theme
So they haven't announced when it comes to Europe yet?
They did back in December and it'll hit March 2016 according to some DualShockers journalism site. Never heard of it before though, so I'm a bit skeptical.
