They don't know, it's anonymous. It helps to read it all.
everyone pick extremely awesome specs so valve will improve the engine
But it scans your computer...
Survey says...
... top installed program is Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Shitty computer owners please don't participate.

maps are now in .PDF format.
you make the map heightmap in a image program, then the texture map in the same program, then you put both in the .PDF, heightmap on top texture map below.
to place models and entities you add in a text line giving the model/entitie's location on the HDD then type the coordinates in for where it will be placed.
the good news is...
...noobs with paint can make maps
the bad news is...
...most/all professional maps will be a single prop with entities on it leading to a new era of mingebag griefing in gmod.
I'm certainly missing something here, but why didn't it pop up for me to participate in it?

Shit, just re-read it. Nevermind on my original.
Microphones

But only like 20% of people talk. :saddowns: (as in strangers)
Also, "Unknown" :3:

My laptop has a built-in mic, but it can't pick up my voice unless I lean uncomfortably close to the screen. So I don't bother using it. I'm sure a lot of other people are in the same boat.

I never understand why people say this, I think Source looks fine. The Portal 2 images really look cool.
where?
He was being sarcastic. Of course, since nearly everyone has it, he's probably right.
But I don't want valve to know I play rapelay :frown:
Oh crap, now they'll know I have BackSeat Bangers 2: The Return of Stacy now!

Could still be improved though :eng101:
Source would look amazing in Dx11. What makes it look outdated is outdated shading, outdated post processing effects and lack of full dynamic lighting.

They are trying to update it as people update. They are staying with the average gamer who doesnt have a superawesomemaazingcomputer so that EVERYONE can play it. Sort of like what blizzard do with world of warcraft.

And judging by their and Blizzard's success, I think it's fair to say they're doing it right.
it is as limited as fuck, when you start modifying shit you start to realize how the engine holds you back from things you could normally do on other more intricate or just better engines.
Developing for Source is shit, but it's the finished product that counts.

Scroll down.
I see nobody has 12 cores :v:
Either that person really did have 12 cores and just didn't take part this time, or valve fixed what ever was causing it to show up as 12 cores.

Valve want to see what's your spec, mass compare it with other data and then see where the market currently is with games. One reason Valve has not updated the source engine to extreme lengths is because they want low-tier hardware to still be able to play half life 2 and other source engine games.
