Basically, we're going to write a whole bunch of songs that sound like classic rock songs, meaning all prolific rock genres that were spawned through the sixties and seventies, be it Beatles style pop rock anthems, Pink Floyd/King Crimson progressive masterpieces, or Boston's arena rock magic.
Member collaboration is highly encouraged. Don't feel like playing/writing a bass part (or whatever instrument), or just can't? Just make a post and I'll add you to the OP as wanting part X with a link to your post so you can be PMd.
Important things
1. Deadline will be October 15th. Let's release it at the same time as FP Collab 6 just for fun. Why not? Haha. Maybe actually released a week after, but you get the point.
2. One song per person. Self explanitory. You can collab with as many people as you'd like though.
3. No covers. Legal issues.
4. I don't have to accept your track. Note I'm only saying that to prevent completely awful tracks etc, don't worry too much unless this will be the first song you've ever recorded.
5. I get all the money. Just kidding. I'll just keep it for adding the free downloads and such, or if we make enough (unlikely lol) spend it on maybe an advert or something promotional like that.
Submission rules
1. Send the track using a PM, don't just post a soundcloud link. Upload the file to mediafire or whatever.
2. Use this format

Song title:
Artist: (Just put N/A if you want me to use your username)

Song title: Oh Baby When You Talk Like That

Description: I wrote this song while masturbating to the season finale of the trailer park boys. Those guys sure are funny!
Genre/Influences: Beatles/Led Zeppelin/Hard Rock
Music Page: http://soundcloud.com/mydadsdick

3. Normalize songs to -1 dB. We're so fucking loud, right? You guys should know how to do this.
4. WAV files only

Additional notes:
Now I sort of want to keep a theme to the album, that being "Finding My Way." This is very vague, FYI, it's really about "discovery," or "understanding," super vague things like that. You don't have to stick to it, but it'd be cool.
Also anyone that wants to make album art, PM me. I want to keep it secret until this is released, just for fun.

Hmm, I might just come up with some better lyrics for that song I didn't release and do that last rock album. Anybody want to do the singing?

I like it how it is, though the drums could be mixed a bit better.
I forget if I even mixed the drums. Probably not, think I just left them in the big group. Though Addictive Drums comes with a mixer and everything, I prefer to break it up, bounce, and mix it with different plugins. But this was just the demo, so I don't think that point was reached.
I'd love to contribute, but I can only write. :(
semi-okay bass player at somebody's service i guess

Would you be using guitar pro or whatever? I never thought about having writers. If someone wants to just write a song it'd be interesting to try to get enough people together to record it and such. If/when you finish writing the song I'll add it to the OP or something to see if people want to do it.

Sounds good, and yeah, I'll be using GP5.
I meant for this to only be 5 minutes long but it ended up being 7. drums obviously aren't even started on just have the same basic beat the whole time, and there are parts of the guitar that I want to take out and replace (I had a slide guitar solo on one of the early takes I want to recreate). that and it isn't mixed at all
3 minutes of it is actual song, the second half is all jam, though the first half is all jam as well for the guitar part lol. all improvised and done in one take (not the first take, mind you).

I'd love to mix and master tracks for this album!
I wish I could do this, if only I had decent recording equipment.
where are all you queermos that said yes in the old poll
Maybe we should notify the music section?
Get some people here from drums and guitar discussion threads.
Would be interested in providing lead guitar duties for anyone who asks.
Here's a collab I did with another member, Clovis, in which I provided guitar parts:

That'd be a good idea. Do you mean just post in off topic and such or make a thread?

can you not make a song on your own?
And take a listen to the song I posted just one or two posts up and see if you think you could solo over that (the bass/drums that is, I'd be taking one of my guitar parts out)

Oh, I'm not submitting that. It's just for anyone who's interested in my playing.
I'll try, but probably no guarantee of a complete original coming from me.

I'll see what I can do.
Yeah I wasn't thinking you were, I was just asking if you could just write a song as opposed to only playing guitar on other people's tracks.
That'd be a good idea. Do you mean just post in off topic and such or make a thread?
I dunno.
You're the boss on this project, so do whatever you wish.
i dont know hakita you're finnish you probably know which idea is better than me ):

I've lost all inspiration and nothing I make works, but I'd love to help making this album (and maybe I'll find inspiration by providing mastering/mixing).

Actually I have two songs that I think sound pretty classic rock

Obviously some parts could do with some change (the last part on stop drop and roll and the parts where I go crazy on sunshine) but other than that I believe some parts can be salvaged in some way.
Any thoughts?
they'd both work fine but they could use a lot more production value lol
If anyone needs anything I'm willing contribute. I can do rocks, bass, keys, vocals if you really want, drums (though I'd prefer not to), mixing, mastering, writing, solos, whatever.
Might as well jump in as well. I am an alright-ish bass player with cheapo recording gear if anyone needs that. Recording through the Amplitube app for iOS, but the sound quality is surprisingly decent.
OR I'll just say it's artsy and the poor sound quality makes it oh-so vintage and fitting.

Well, a thread gets noticed more, so why not go with that.
this thread aint dead
i'm guessing that 90s grunge won't count as classic eh
Not really.
nothing guys? really?
Such a shame that these threads die so often.
they usually die because the creator leaves but I'm awesome so yeah
