"Corporate Ladder", an excerpt from a WIP short story

I've been getting a lot of ideas in my head lately, so I decided to start writing. This is basically a small part in a short story I am working on about a man with psychokinetic powers, and two bidding Kinetics corporations that want him. Any criticism is definitely welcome, as I sure as hell need it.
“Well, the results back?” Daniel Schwartz was not in a particularly good mood today. His formula for human physiological psychokinetics has been rejected by the FDA several times in the past,
and if he doesn’t get it approved this time around the Fujikawa Corporation will have the upper hand in the Kinetics market. “Yeah, we got the results back. Don’t think you’ll be too happy, though.” Leonard, Daniel’s assistant, wasn’t joking around. That stern look on his brow told Daniel everything he needed to know. “God damn it, what bullshit reason did they shove us this time?!” Daniel shouted in anger, no longer sitting in his fine leather office chair.
“Well, I wouldn’t call them ‘bullshit’ reasons. FDA says all subjects they tested it on died of either disembowelment or heart failure.” Leonard poured himself a cup of coffee, hoping it would help ease the screeching noise that was his boss’ voice.
“Fuck, we’re finished. Fujikawa’s got us by the fucking balls.” Daniel glared out of his office window-wall, the gleaming lights of New York shining in the darkness of the night, hovercars driving to and fro. “We used to own this city, Leonard. McGinley Kinetics was known in every house back when I first took the reign. Now, Jesus, now I don’t even know what the hell we are.”
“Well sir, Jim down in the cubicle levels thinks he knows a solution.” Daniel quickly turned around; maybe this wouldn’t turn out as bad as he thought it would. “You mean that MIT dropout?”
“You remember reading about that person waking up in the morgue that was all over the Linkweb, right?” Jim always knew someday he’d climb the corporate ladder, and this just might be his ticket up. “You mean the Manhattan Morgue Man? That guy in the tabloids with the, what were they, the powers?” Jim took off his glasses and turned toward Daniel. “Yeah, although he just might be for real. A buddy of mine who’s with the press said they just got a report on a guy with the same exact appearance and the same ‘abilities’ causing a ruckus down at one of the local Linkweb stations.” Daniel raised his left eyebrow, skeptical, but intrigued. “If we can get our hands on this bastard and have our science team get inside him, we just might find what we need to fuck Fujikawa in their tight ass.” Daniel replied. “Leonard, I want a recon drone in every Linkweb station in Manhatten. If he doesn’t comply, take him down. Bring him back alive.” “Aye aye, sir.” Leonard responded, rolling his eyes in contempt. Something in his gut told him this wouldn’t end well.
